CHAMBERSBURG -- Lida "Linda" Wood Johnson, 65, of 1843 Leedy Drive, and formerly of 116 Union Jack Lane, Cary, N.C., died at 4:15 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2001, in Chambersburg Hospital.

Born June 19, 1935, in Washington, D.C., she was a daughter of the late Gerry E. and Kathryn Strobel Wood.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, Raleigh, N.C.  A 1953 graduate of George Washington High School, Washington, D.C., she graduated in 1956 from Alexandria (Va.) School of Nursing.

She was a registered nurse. Retired from the State of North Carolina after 10 years of service, she had been in nursing for 42 years.  She maintained her R.N. license in Virginia and North Carolina, and held membership in the Virginia Nurses' Association and the North Carolina Nurses' Association. She also was a member of the national American Association of Retired Persons.

Surviving are a daughter, Jill L. Griffin of Chambersburg; two sons, Edward W. "Bill" III of Apex, N.C., and Christopher B. of Raleigh; four grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Dean of Bowie, Md., and Mary Britt of Smithfield, N.C.; and a brother, Fred Wood of Sabillasville, Md.  She was preceded in death by three sisters.

Private service will be in West and Dunn Funeral Home, Benson, N.C.  Burial will be in the Wood family cemetery in Benson.

Local arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home Inc., Chambersburg.
