Edgar (Eddie) Stanley Newark appears in these undated world War II photographs.  Above left he is kneeling on the extreme right of the front row.  Above right he is standing at the extreme left of the photograph with fellow crew members.   The newspaper clipping below is dated February 25, 1946.    All materials courtesy of  Caroline Frehner, Eddie’s niece.  Eddie’s brother James Newark appears in the biographies section of these webpages (click the “Biographies” button on the navigation bar to the left).

 

 

Above:  Runnymede Memorial overlooks the River Thames on Cooper's Hill at Englefield Green between Windsor and Egham on the A308, 4 miles from Windsor.  It commemorates by name over 20,000 airmen who were lost in the Second World War during operations from bases in the United Kingdom and North and Western Europe, and who have no known graves.  Edgar Stanley Newark’s name is shown on Panel 285 (See the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website at http://www.cwgc.org/cwgcinternet/search.aspx )
