  • Charles W. Newark 1862-1917 Blindmaker
  • Ernest Walter Newark, B.E.M, 1896-1963  Chief Inspector, Metropolitan London Police. It is interesting to compare Ernest’s career with that of James William Newark (below).  Their lives were similar in several respects.  Both were decorated for bravery helping their fellow man during the second world war, both worked in potentially dangerous services on behalf of their country, and both were involved in the Atomic Energy program of the 1950-60’s.
  • John Newark 1808-1891 Schoolmaster

  • Arthur Newark, 1895 -  Manager of Singapore Airport in 1939 and chief instructor at the Kuala Lumpur Flying Club.

  • John Wright Newark   An infamous individual known to us only through the Proceedings of the Old Bailey.   His middle name should have been “Wrong” not “Wright”.
  • Algernon Newark   A turn of the 20th century repertory actor.
  • Timothy Newark. A poor US farmer whose family name was terminated by the deaths of two of his sons in the US civil war and by the death of his third son in the Lenawee County Poorhouse, Michigan.

Charles Newrick

·          Charles Newrick (1793-1841)  A Medical Curiosity.  We know of him today due to his death from a constricted trachea and the scientific paper that was written about it.

 

“Saginaw”  Newrick Branch

·          Henry and Thomas Newrick  Emigrants from Suffolk to Michigan, USA circa 1855.  Thomas William Newark was a grocer in Saginaw, Michigan while his older brother Henry Valentine Newrick served in the Union forces during the Civil War and later moved to the turbulent frontier town of Fort Scott, Kansas.
