A very weathered headstone in Raphoe graveyard, Co Donegal, with whole lines missing states "Jean Hamilton wife to James Neesbit�..1624 ���.died 1 Feb 1679�also John & Andrew their sons who died 1645 and JA Neesbit grandson to the said John died 26 Feb 1696." With so much missing at the beginning, it is hard to cipher the family history.

Possibly 2 separate branches

John Nesbit, with consent of his wife, conveyed on 16th August 1514 to "consanguineo meo Georgio Nesbit filio Philippi Nesbit de eodem," the lands of the half barony of Dalzell, reserving portions in Flemington, Hole, and Parkhed.
It is not possible to say what exact degree of relationship is implied by "consanguineo meo." In the present case it amounted to nothing more than a mutual admission that the families were descended from a common ancestor.

A very weathered headstone in Raphoe graveyard, Co Donegal, with whole lines missing states "Jean Hamilton wife to James Neesbit�..1624 ���.died 1 Feb 1679�also John & Andrew their sons who died 1645 and JA Neesbit grandson to the said John died 26 Feb 1696." With so much missing at the beginning, it is hard to cipher the family history.
