Coulterville is part of South Versailles Township, Pennsylvania . Originally, the area known as South Versailles Twp. today was made up of three villages: Coulterville, Alpsville and Emblem. Today, South Versailles is often referred to by locals as Coulterville, or, more often, Coulter, for short. Coulterville is in the far southern part of the town, with Alpsville in the middle, and Emblem being on the northern border with White Oak, Pennsylvania. -- Wikipedia

Obituaries:

MCDERMOTT, HUGH
June 11, 1921
Hugh McDermott, aged 56 years and 11 months, died yesterday morning at 8:05 o’clock at his home in Coulter from a
complication of ailments with which he had been ill for the past nine months. He is survived by his wife and four
children, ???ley and John McDermott, at home; Patrick Graham and Mrs.????d Stubb, both of this city; and two brothers,
John McDermott of Versailles, and Barney McDermott, of Duquesne. The funeral service will be held on Monday morning in
St. Patrick’s R. C.church, Alpsville, and interment will be at that place.

MCDERMOTT, MARTIN
January 14, 1898
Martin McDermott, aged 37 years and 6 months, and unmarried, died this morning at 4:25 o’clock at the residence of his
brother, Bernard McDermott, of Grant avenue, Duquesne. Deceased was a resident of Coultersville and went to Duquesne to
visit about two weeks ago. He had been suffering from a complication of ailments for a long time. He was a brother of
Postmaster Michael McDermott, of Coultersville. The remains were taken to Coultersville this afternoon. The funeral will
take place Sunday morning at 9 o’clock; interment at Alpsville.
