Marie (Wilkins) Palmer

Mrs. Marie Wilkins Palmer, 80, of 1504 Freeport Road, Cheswick, died
yesterday (Sept 11, 1968) at 5 pm in Citizens General Hospital, New
Kensington.  Mrs. Palmer, a resident of the Cheswick area for 47 years,
entered the hospital on Sept 3 and underwent surgery Sept 5. She came to
the Allegheny Valley from Big Run where she was born to Thomas and
Margaret Schneider WILKINS, on Dec 10, 1887. In 1921 she moved to
Cheswick.

She was a member of Cheswick Presbyterian Church, and in her younger years,
was active in the Woman's Missionary Society and the Ladies Aid Society
of the church as well as the Margaret Campbell Bible Class of the church
school. She was also a member of the Springdale Chapter Order of the
Eastern Star. Her husband, Ralph J. Palmer, a Duquesne Light Co. employee,
died in 1949.

She leaves a son, Edmund (Ned) Palmer, Cheswick; a daughter, Mrs. Samuel
G. (Edna) Couch, Cheswick; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Her pastor, the Rev. John M. Jenkins, will conduct a funeral service
Saturday at 2 pm in the Clowes Funeral Home, 801 Pittsburgh St.,
Springdale, where friends are now being received. Interment will be in
Deer Creek Cemetery.
