FRANK SHAW

Frank Shaw, the ten-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew G. Shaw,
of Butler street, Eighteenth ward, Pittsburg, was struck by an
electric car Wednesday afternoon and instantly killed.  The boy
with several companions was returning home from school and just
opposite the Lincoln foundry they attempted to cross the street.
They did not notice a fast approaching electric car and before Shaw
had cleared both tracks he was hit by the car running at full speed,
and his life crushed out.  The accident was so sudden that the
motorman did not realize what had actually happened.  He did not
see the boy until he was hit and in fact was shocked when he
learned the result.

Eye witnesses were unable to explain how the accident actually
happened but shuddered at the sight.  His head was so crushed that
his features were beyond recognition.

The boys remains were picked up and taken to his parents home and
the news almost prostrated his mother, who but a few hours before,
had seen the boy leave home for school, stout, healthy and cheerful.
The father who was working at the courthouse was informed of the terrible
accident and was almost overcome with grief.

Mr. Shaw is a son of W. W. Shaw, for many years a resident of the
borough, is well known here.  His many friends were much grieved
to learn of the sad death of his boy.

The funeral took place this afternoon at two o'clock.
