Adam Meinert, one of the oldest residents of the Borough, died Wednesday afternoon at his late residence on Sixth Street, after a short illness, in his 66th year. Mr. Meinert was a native of Germany. He came to this country in 1848, locating in O'Hara Township, a short distance from the borough line.
In 1877 Mr. Meinert moved to Sharpsburg, and has lived here since. The deceased was one of the charter members of St. Mary's church and very active in promoting the interests of the congregation. He left a widow, four sons and four daughters, also 21 grandchildren. Three of the daughters are in religious orders - Sister Clara in Wheeling, W. Va.; Sister Agnes in the West End, and Sister Agretta in Buffalo. The eldest daughter; Elizabeth, is the wife of John Wiseman of Sharpsburg. The sons are Adam, Jr., of Sharpsburg; John and D.H., of the Sixteenth Ward, Pittsburg, and Joseph, of Dallas, Texas.
On January 21, 1901; Mr. and Mrs. Meinert celebrated their golden wedding. The funeral will be held from St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, tomorrow morning at 9:30 o'clock.

Adam Meinert, aged 79, retired farmer, died yesterday from general debility at his home, Sixth and Penn Streets, Sharpsburg. He was born in Germany and came to this country in 1848 and located on a farm in O'Hara Township. Fifty-one years ago he was married and he is survived by his wife and eight children, three of the daughters being in convents. Funeral service will be held at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church at 9:30 Saturday morning, the interment being at St. Mary's Cemetery.
