Mrs. Fred Duerr

A heart attack which she suffered at 5 o'clock Saturday morning caused the death of Mrs. Clara Griffith Duerr, wife of Fred Duerr, yesterday morning at 8:05 o'clock in the family home in Ormond street.

Mrs. Duerr, for more than 50 years a resident of the community, had not been feeling well but her condition did not become alarming until stricken Saturday. However with rest it was felt she would recover. Death came quietly while she was sleeping, shortly after being given her medicime.

Mrs. Duerr was born December 6, 1864, in Pittsburgh and came to the community when a young woman. She has long been a member of Brackenridge M.E. Church and Sunday school and in her younger years was active in both organizations.

Surviving are her husband, Fred, one son: Harry Kurn, Tarentum; three daughters: Mrs. Oliver Smith, Mrs. Frank Schutzler, and Mrs. Grover Mackentire, Brackenridge, and the following stepchildren: Will and Harvey Kurn, Brackenridge; Mrs. Margie Evens, Pittsburgh; Fred Duerr, Sandy Lick; Mrs. Freda Duerr-Shaner, Tarentum; Mrs. Bertha Petz, Brackenridge; and Mrs. Mary Riggle, Detroit, Michigan.

Mrs. Duerr's only living brother, Harry Griffith, Pittsburgh, will be unable to attend funeral services, yesterday being his first day up following a serious illness. Thirty-four grandchildren and twenty-nine great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in Brackenridge M.E. Church. Rev. C.J. Whitlatch, pastor of First M.E. Church, will be in charge assisted by Rev. Gilbert Conner. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery.
