First Congregational Church Cemetery
Tombstone Inscriptions
Etna, PA

The First Congregational Church Cemetery, a very rocky, hilly terrain, is located at the top of High Street in Etna, PA. It's date of origin is unknown at this time.  For many years it was not maintained. Several years ago, motivated citizens gathered together volunteers who now, occasionally, keep the grounds trimmed. As with all older cemeteries many headstones are not readable.

Official records for this cemetery are maintained by The First Congregational Church of Etna. The current record-keeper is Sherri Jones of  Etna, PA. Some Tombstone Inscriptions are available through the Western Pennsylvania Historical Society.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Do NOT assume that a person is buried in this cemetery based on these Tombstone Inscriptions. Many times a family would have their loved ones moved to another cemetery and leave the marker behind. If you find someone you are looking for here, please verify their presence by checking official records.

(William Max ZIEGLER was an immigrant from Prussia who was a miner and later a steel worker.  He came over about 1851-2 
and married Margartha MUNCH, whose family was from France (Alsace area) around 1856-7 and they had a number of children
