Robert W. McKee


Robert W. McKEE, aged 67 years, a veteran of the battle of Gettysburg, and 
the Wilderness, where he was severely wounded, prominent in educational and 
church work and a well known resident of the East End, died at 9 o'clock last 
night at the Pittsburg Hospital from the effects of an operation, after a 
short illness.  He made his home at No. 7021 Susquehanna Street for 20 years, 
part of which time he was principal of the Homewood schools.

    Mr. McKEE was of an inventive nature and just before his death perfected
a novel index for court, city and county records.  A short time ago he wrote 
a history of the McKEE family , which is to be published in a book entitled "O
ld Families of Pittsburg".   For many years and until two weeks ago he was an 
expert accountant and had been employed by the J.R. Wheeler Lumber Co. for 
some time.  He had been employed by several prominent Pittsburg firms 
previously.

    He was a member of the Colonel John B. Clark post, G.A.R. and of the
Union Veteran Legion, and a former member of the Royal Arcanum.  He was 
deeply interested in church work, for the last 20 years, having been an acive 
member of the Homewood Methodist Episcopal Church, of which he had been 
treasurer and trustee, and until recently he had been secretary of the 
Methodist Episcopal union of Pittsburg.  He married Voe C. BEIGHEL, of 
Westmoreland county, who died two years ago.  He leaves one son, Edward H.W. 
McKEE, a photographer at No. 712  Homewood Avenue, and one brother, D.F.
McKEE, of Tioga Street, assessor of the Twenty-first ward.
