PINE CREEK PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
(aka "Robinson" Cemetery)

Intersection of
Dorseyville Road, Squaw Run Road and Poplar Drive
Fox Chapel, PA

Cemetery Records

Most of these records were provided by Sherri Ihrman of Indiana Twp, PA, who maintains them for Pine Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery. They were prepared and presented here for your genealogical research and information.

Current Church Address:
Pine Creek Presbyterian Church
1945 Fox Chapel Road
Pittsburgh, PA 15238

This older cemetery (circa, 1816) is located in Fox Chapel Borough, at the 3-way intersection of Dorseyville Road, Squaw Run Road and Poplar Drive. At one time it was called Robinson Cemetery for the school that was located next to it. The former church thereon was known locally as Point View Chapel. This Cemetery is divided into four sections. (See Map).

One of the sections is empty space where the old chapel stood. The other three sections are:

"Older (surname: Hodil) Section", stones designated as rows A/ thru H/;

"Hill Section", headstones have an h before their number; h4/1 is Hill Section, row 4, stone 1; and

"Newer Section", headstones are identified as 1/1, 2/1, 3/1, etc., indicating row 1, stone 1; row 2, stone 1; row 3, stone 1, etc.

Over the years several people and groups have been responsible for acquiring and maintaining these records. Their initials will be found within. We acknowledge them here:

E.H.; Elma Hodil, provided a list & map, app. 1960, while she and her
father walked through the cemetery.
D.N.; Diane Nichols, information from readings/rubbings.
G.S.; Girl Scout Troop 212, rubbings/readings, 1985-1987.
S.I.; Sherri Ihrman, information gathered, current record keeper.
J.I.; Jackie Ihrman, reading done in 1987.
Bob Ihrman, created the accompanying map in 1987.
WPGS; Western Pennsylvania Genealogical Society listing.
(ECC) = Record book of the Etna Congregational Church, Diane Nichols

This cemetery list started as a Girl Scout service project for the church. Diane Nichols taught the girls how to make tombstone rubbings. The girls transferred much of the information to index cards. Now Diane and Sherri are correcting and refining (using church records where applicable) the list. The Map was created by Robert Ihrman on July 18, 1987.

Parentheses indicate questionable areas/headstone design information.
DCB or DGB; Darker Cement Base or Darker Gray cement Base.
The bases may have been done in the 1920's by church members in order to preserve the stones.
