Alfred DEHOUX Obituary

William Harry MOORE, 87, died in the home of his son, Melvin MOORE, R. D.
1, Oakdale, at 10:55 p.m. February 13, 1952, following a week's illness.
 Mr. MOORE was born December1, 1864, at R. D. 1, Oakdale.  He was a plumber
most of his life.  He was a member of the First Presbyterian church of
Burgettstown, where he had formerly resided.  His wife, Martha O'HERRON
MOORE, died in June, 1950.
 Surviving are two sons, John MOORE, Hanlin Station, and Melvin MOORE, R. D.
1, Oakdale; two daughters, Mrs. Pearl PHILLIS, R.D. 3, Burgettstown, and
Mrs. Ruby ZIEGLER, R. D. 2, McDonald, one sister, Mrs. Mary CAMPBELL, R. D.
1, Oakdale; one brother, Nelson MOORE, Wireton, and 12 grandchildren.
 Funeral services were held Saturday at the Thomas funeral home, Oakdale, in
charge of the Rev. J. C. RUBLE, pastor of the First Presbyterian church,
Burgettstown.  Burial was in Robinson's Run cemetery.

Alfred DEHOUX Obituary

Jacob SPARKENBAUGH, 82, died Monday, February 25, 1952, in the home of his
daughter, Mrs. Paul VERCAMMEN, at Noblestown, following a three-day illness.
 He was born March 4, 1870, in Armstrong county.  He worked for many years
in both the Fayette and Carnegie coal mines.  Mr. SPARKENBAUGH was a
resident of Noblestown for 43 years.  His wife, Annie DIAMOND SPARKENBAUGH
died January 28, 1922.  Five of their nine children are deceased.
 Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Mae TENNYSON and Mrs. Hazel LONGSTRETH,
both of Sturgeon, and Mrs. Wilma VERCAMMEN of Noblestown; a son, Benjamin
SPARKENBAUGH, of Noblestown, and a brother, George SPARKENBAUGH of Delmonte,
Pa. (sic)
 Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Thomas funeral home,
Oakdale, in charge of the Rev. John T. RICHARDSON.  Burial was in Robinson's
Run cemetery.

Mrs. Celina PLETINCKS, 81, died at 3:30 a.m. February 22, 1952, in the home
of her daughter, Mrs. Victor BAILY, Liberty street, McDonald, following an
illness of four weeks.  She is the widow of Adolph PLETINCKS, Sr.
 Mrs. PLETINCKS was born September 28, 1870, in Belgium and had been a
resident of the McDonald district for 65 years.
 She was a member of the Irons Memorial United Presbyterian church and the
King's Daughters class of the church.
 She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Victor BAILY of McDonald, Mrs. S.
A. ROMAIN of Mt. Lebanon, Mrs. Leon FRANKLIN, Sr., of Sturgeon, and Mrs. A.
S. DeVOS of Baltimore, Md.; two sons, Adolph PLETINCKS, JR., of Wallingford,
Conn., and John R. PLETINCKS of McDonald; two brothers, Arthur SCHAYES of
the Woodville State Hospital, and Eli SCHAYES of Steubenville, Ohio, and two
sisters, Mrs. Adeline HALEY of Heidelberg and Mrs. Mary LAURENT of New
Kensington; there are 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
 Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Pettit funeral home, in
charge of the Rev. Ralph Y. SCOTT.  Burial was in Robinson's Run cemetery.

Thomas Weir JOHNSTON, of Elm Grove, W. Va., died early Thursday morning,
February 28 1952, in the Ohio Valley hospital, Wheeling, where he had been a
patient for twelve weeks.
 A son of the late Francis and Sara WEIR JOHNSTON of Laurel Hill, McDonald,
he was born February 17, 1883, at Primrose.  He was a member of the
Presbyterian Stone church, Elm Grove, the IOOF Lodge and the Civic League of
Elm Grove, and the Garfield Lodge No. 604, F and A. M. of McDonald.
 Surviving are his wife, the former Emily ROBERTS of McDonald, three
daughters, Nova, wife of George GOOLSBY of Sharon; Sara, wife of Charles
SEIDEL of Elm Grove, and Miss Marie, at home; one brother, William J.
Johnston of McDonald, and two sisters, Margaret, wife of William I. WARD of
North CHARLEROI and Mrs. Elizabeth TUCKER of Elm Grove. There are three
grandchildren.
 Funeral services were held Saturday morning in a funeral home in Elm Grove.
Burial was in Robinson's Run cemetery.

Mrs. Mary A. MCNALL CRAWFORD died at her home on 32 Bridge street, Oakdale,
Pa., Monday evening, January 12, 1931, at 10:15 o'clock, after four days
illness of pneumonia.  She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. W.
MCNALL of near Clinton, Pa.  Mrs. CRAWFORD was born May 26, 1852 near
Clinton.  For the past 23 years she has been a resident of Oakdale, moving
there in 1908.  In 1870 she was united in marriage to Mr. E. D. CRAWFORD of
Robinson Township, Washington County and to this marriage was born nine
children, seven of whom are still living.
 Mrs. CRAWFORS was a faithful member of the First United Presbyterian church
of Oakdale, a devoted mother and a kind and loving neighbor and friend.  Mr.
CRAWFORD died 26 years ago.
 She leaves the following children; R. M. CRAWFORD, Addie, Idaho; George W.
CRAWFORD, Mercer, Pa.; Mrs. Anna GLASS and Mrs. John M. SIMPSON, Bulger,
Pa.; Mrs. Joseph S. HADDEN, Oakdale, and Dr. Ralph MCNALL DRAWFORD, with
whom she make her home.
 Services were held in the late home Wednesday evening at eight o'clock
conducted by the Rev. E. A. DOWEY, assisted by the Rev. W. R. MCMUNN.
Interment was Thursday morning in the Robinson's Run cemetery.

Donald Eugene GRAY, aged 2, years and 9 months, eldest son of Alvin
and Alwina GRAY of Coraopolis, died in the home of his grandmother Mrs. A.
TRAUTMAN at 4:30 Saturday evening, February 7, 1931.  His death followed an
illness of three weeks.
 Besides his parents he leaves a brother Alvin Wayne.
 Funeral services were held from the home Monday morning I charge of the
Rev. F. A. GAUPP of the Montour Presbyterian church.  Burial was in the

Mrs. Ellen M. CRAFT, 37, wife of Guy CRAFT of Valley street, McDonald died
at 5:40 o'clock Monday morning, February 23, 1931, in the Canonsburg General
hospital, succumbing after an operation.
 Mrs. CRAFT, a daughter of the late Sebastian TRAUTMAN and his wife Mrs.
TRAUTMAN of Valley street, McDonald, was born on the McDonald farm north of
McDonald.  She was united in Marriage with GUY CRAFT in 1927 and had since
made her home in McDonald.  She was a member of the First United
Presbyterian church of McDonald.
 Mrs. CRAFT leaves her husband, her mother, and the following brothers and
sisters:  John TRAUTMAN of Imperial, Henry TRAUTMAN of Coraopolis, Mrs.
George EHLE of Imperial, Mrs. George GOSS of Carnot, Mrs. E. J. LINK of
Coraopolis, and Mrs. Mary UHRINE of Coraopolis.
 Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the family home in Valley
street, in charge of the Rev. S. A. MCCOLLAM.  Burial was in the Robinson's
Run cemetery.

Mrs. Marie GAMONDE died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, January 29, 1931 in her home
in Valley street, of complications.  She had been ill the past three months.
She had made her home with her son Louis GAMONDE and daughter Mrs. Louis
Daniels the past six years.
 Mrs. GAMONDE was born August 1, 1847, in France.  She came to the United
States in 1891 locating in McDonald.  She was united in marriage in France
with Mr. GAMONDE in 1872.
 She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Louis DANIELS and a son Louis GAMONDE, both of
McDonald.  A sister, age 89, an invalid the past then years, resides in
France.  There are four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  Her
husband died March 13, 1925.
 Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the home of her daughter,
Mrs. Louis DANIELS, in charge of the Rev. B. F. HEANY.  Mr. Adolph PLETINCKS
read a eulogy at the grave.  Burial was in the Robinson's Run cemetery.

Stanley E. MILLER, 26, died at 3 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 1931, in his home 229 Fisk street, Pittsburgh after an illness of three days of pneumonia. A son of Joseph and Mary MARMAGIN MILLER he was born in August, 1906. He attended Schenley high and Pitt night school. The MARMAGIN family is well known in Sturgeon and in McDonald and attended the Methodist church. He is survived by his parents, four sisters, and a brother, all at home. Funeral services were held Wednesday evening in his home in charge of the Rev. Mr. JORDAN of the Presbyterian church, Main street, Pittsburgh. Burial was in the Robinson's Run cemetery on Thursday. Alfred DEHOUX Obituary

Hugh A. JOYNT, 51, died at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, January 29, 1931, in the
Mercy hospital, Pittsburgh, following an operation for ulcers of the
stomach.  He had been sick since December 11.
 A son of Frederick C. and Katherine CAMPBELL JOYNT he was born October 10,
1879, in Rouseville, Venango county. He first attended the Hall school and
then the Robinson township Allegheny county, schools.  He was united in
marriage with Maude M. CURRY in Pittsburgh on May, 1903, by the Rev. F. H.
SENFT.  They resided for a time in Gayly, going from there to Goulds, Ohio
where they lived for 7 years.  The removed to Hopedale and a year later came
to McDonald, and her they have resided the past twenty years.
 Besides his wife he leaves two sons, and a daughter:  H. Merle, E. Homer,
and Mable (sic) M. JOYNT, all at home.  Two brothers survive; George H.
JOYNT of Burgettstown and Albert S. JOYNT of Swissvale.  His mother died in
1907 and his father died in 1908. and a brother John died in 1913.
 He was a member of the Maccabees of Gayly and of the IOOF of McDonald.  He
was a member of the McDonald Methodist Episcopal church.
 Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the McDonald M. E. church,
conducted by the pastor the Rev. L. G. RICHEY, who was assisted by a former
pastor, the Rev. J. H. DEBOLT, now of East Washington.  Burial was Monday
morning in the Robinson's Run cemetery.

Miss Kate C. MORGAN, aged 81 years, died at 7 o'clock Saturday evening,
January 3, 1931, after a week's illness, in the C. F. MCELROY home, where
Mrs. MCELROY had been caring for the aged lady during the winter months.
Mrs. ZUFALL had helped for the past week in the care if the invalid, who had
been a cripple, unable to walk since she fell from a chair in her home in
Clinton while hanging curtains.  She was a patient in the McKees Rocks
hospital for treatment for her broken leg, but had not been able to use the
limb for several years, and during this time had been a member of homes in
the community, going first to the James CUPPS home, later to Mary GOULD's
for several summers, one winter she spent with her cousin Mrs. Ethel BROOKS
in Beaver county, returning to Miss GOULD's in the spring, and had been
under the care of Mrs. McELROY for two winters.  Miss MORGAN was the last of
the family of Mr. and Mrs. Charles MORGAN, of Potato Garden run, a sister

Alfred DEHOUX Obituary

Adam CUMMINGS, 49, died at 7:40 a.m., Monday, January 19, 1931, in his home
216 Center avenue, McDonald, of heart failure, following an illness of two
months.
 Mr. CUMMINGS was born in Scotland in 1881, and the same year was brought to
the United States.  His parents were John and Mary WINNIN CUMMINGS, who
located in McDonald.  Adam CUMMINGS, received his education in the public
schools of Laurel Hill and McDonald, and then followed the occupation of
mining, as his farther had done.
 On October, 14, 1900, he was united in marriage in Wellsburg, W.Va., with
Mary  JOHNSTON, who survives, together with four daughters and one son;
Margaret, the wife of William SPEER of Oakdale; Marie, Audrey, Edna, and
Jack at home. A son William died in 1906 at the age of 4 � years.  He is
also survived by one brother John of Irwin, and these sisters;  Mrs. Mary
DUNCAN of Irwin, Mrs. Elizabeth YOUNG of Washington, and Mrs. Agnes
SYLVESTER of Montreal, Canada.  His mother died in 1903 and his father in
1910.  A brother Gilbert died about a year ago.
 Mr. CUMMINGS was a quiet, upright citizen, respected by all who knew him.
He had been mine foreman in the Willow Grove mine of the McDonald Coal Co.
the past thirteen years.  He was a member of the First United Presbyterian
church, and the Masonic and Moose fraternities.
 Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the First United
Presbyterian church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. S. A. MCCOLLAM, who
was assisted by the Rev. A. R. ARMSTRONG of the Robinson's Run church.
Burial was in Robinson's Run cemetery.

Alfred DEHOUX Obituary

Fleury LOBRY, aged 80 years, 13 days, died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, January
15, 1931, in his home in that part of North Fayette township adjoining
McDonald known as the New World.
 Mr. LOBRY was born February 3, 1850, in the northern part of France, and
Came to McDonald 43 years ago, taking up his residence in the home in which
he died.  He was a retired coal miner, and a member of the French U. P.
church.  His wife died March 27, 1922.  A son, Frank LOBRY of McDonald, and
a daughter Mrs. Hortense HOLLINGER of Aliquippa survive him.  There are two
grandchildren.
 Funeral services in charge of Mr. Fernald J. BROWETT of the French U. P.
church were held Saturday afternoon in the LOBRY home.  Burial was in the
Robinson's Run cemetery.

James Henry JONES, 75, died at 5 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 1931, in his
home near Primrose in Mt. Pleasant township.  Acute dilation of the heart
was the cause of death.  He was born in Virginia, and came North 40 years
ago.  He located at Primrose about 25 years ago, and had been employed by
the Carnegie Coal Co. first as a stable boss and more recently in general
work about the Primrose mine.  He is survived by his wife, two sons and four
daughters as follows, Jacob JONES of Primrose, Paul Ulysses JONES of
Clairton, Mrs. Sadie Jane WOODS of Aliquippa, Mrs. Charlotte Elizabeth
BRANNAN of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Rachel Helen CHISHOLM of Pittsburgh, and Mrs.
Susie Mae RANDOLPH of Primrose.  There are 19 grandchildren, and 3
great-grandchildren.
 Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the JONES home, conducted
by the Rev. Charles REDD.  Burial was in the Robinson's Run cemetery.

 Mrs. MILLS (nee POTTS) was born December 5, 1906, in Charlotte, N.C.
 Besides her husband she leaves two daughters Alice and Christine at home,
also an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Feal DAY of Clarksburg, W. Va.
 Funeral services were held in the home in Bulger, conducted by the Rev. Mr.
HASKINS of McDonald, who was assisted by Mr. W. A. HARVEY of McDonald.
Burial was in the Robinson's Run cemetery.

Mrs. Henrietta CARSON SMITH TOWARD, 62, died at 3:30 a. m. Wednesday, March
4, 1931, in her home, 421 East Lincoln avenue, McDonald, following a long
illness.  She had been ailing since last November.  Her husband John TOWARD
died October 11, 1909, of injuries sustained in the Brier Hill mine
September 2, 1909.
 Mrs. TOWARD was born January 29, 1869 in Armoy, County Antrim, Ireland, and
was brought to the United States in 1870 by her parents, Mrs. And Mrs. Henry
SMITH, both deceased.  They settled in McDonald and this has been the family
home since.
 Mrs. TOWARD is survived by nine children as follows:  George, Henry, and
Robert TOWARD, and Bessie, the five of George CEREZO, all of McDonald;
Blanch the wife of Amie LEROY of Ellwood City, and Thomas, Violet, John, and
Samuel at home.  Three children died in infancy and a son William died in
1923.  There are eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  The
following brothers and sisters also survive; Agnes the wife of Duncan
Johnston, Thomas, William C. and Henry K. smith, Jane the wife of John
MCGREEVY, and Samuel C. SMITH, all of McDonald.
 The deceased was a member of the Presbyterian church of McDonald and held
membership in the Ladies Loyal Orange Lodge Purple Star 167, Pittsburgh,
Ascalon Sisterhood Dames of Malta No. 134, and Rebekah Lodge of McDonald.

held at 2:30 Saturday afternoon in the TOWARD home in East Lincoln avenue.

Mrs. Bertha BROWN, 52, wife of Theodore BROWN, died of heart trouble at 6
a.m. Saturday, February 28, 1931, in her home, 2151 Webster avenue,
Pittsburgh
 Mrs. BROWN was born in 1879 in Bradford.  She came to McDonald as a young
woman.  Her first husband whose name was LEWIS died in McDonald after a long
illness, and she afterward married John SCOTT, who also died.  After her
marriage to Theodore BROWN, the family moved to Pittsburgh.
 Eight daughters and one son survive her, also two sisters, Mrs. SIMPSON of
Bridgeville and Mrs. WILSON of Wellsville, Ohio.
 Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the First Baptist church,
McDonald, conducted by the Rev. G. E. SALLIE of Beaver Falls, a former
pastor.  Burial was in the Robinson's Run cemetery.

Alfred DEHOUX Obituary

William Bertram AVERY, 56, died at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday March 4, 1931, in
his home, Fayette street, Oakdale, after a week's illness of pneumonia and
complications.
 Mr. AVERY was born September 30, 1874, in Cherrytree, Pa.  He was the
eldest son of the late Charles Lynn and Alabama AVERY.  With his parents, he
moved from Kennerdell, Pa. (sic) during the oil excitement and settled at
Noblestown.  For many years he was an employee of the South Penn Oil company
and for the past several years had been employed my Simpson brothers at
Oakdale.  He was united with Miss Mary ROY of Noblestown.  He was a member
of the Oakdale band at the time it was known as the Oakdale Cornet band.  He
was also a member of Oakdale Hose Co. No. 1, a member of the Oakdale United
Presbyterian church and a member of Tent 39, Order of Maccabbees, of
McDonald.  He led a quiet life, but had a large circle of friends.  His only
brother Floyd S.AVERY died less than a year ago.
 He leaves his wife Mrs. Mary ROY AVERY, a sister Mrs. Goldie AVERY BAUMANN,
wife of George BAUMANN of Imperial, and two nieces and nephews-Mrs. Orville
BECK of Morristown, Ind., Harry BAUMANN of Imperial, and the AVERY twins
Charles L. and M. Thelma AVERY of Oakdale.
 Funeral services were held at two o'clock this Friday afternoon in the home
in Oakdale, conducted by his pastor the Rev. E.A.DOWEY, who will be assisted
by the Rev. W. R. MCMUNN.  Burial will be in the Robinson's Run cemetery.

Quinton PATTEN died at 5:20 a.m. Wednesday, February 25, 1931, in his home
n McKees Rocks, of complications incident to his advanced years.  He was 78
years old.  He had lived in McDonald for a number of years.  He leaves his
wife and three daughters and three sons.  There are several grandchildren.
Mrs. PATTEN is a sister of Mrs. Robert MCGREEVY, Sr. of Center avenue.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon.  Burial was in the Robinson's
Run cemetery.

Funeral services for Joseph D. Holmes, 72, who died in the home of his
sister-in-law Mrs. Luella HOLMES in Washington, Saturday, February 28, 1931,
following a brief illness of pneumonia, were held Tuesday afternoon in the
Canonsburg U. P. church.  Burial was in the Robinson's Run cemetery.
 Mr. HOLMES was a well known farmer of Cecil township and many friends of
years standing were present at the services.

Joseph PHILLIPS, 75, died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 1931, in the
home of his son Leonard PHILLIPS in Railroad street, McDonald, after a week'
s illness of heart trouble.
 Mr. PHILLIPS was born October 11, 1855, in South Staffordshire, England, a
son of William and Elizabeth PHILLIPS.  He was united in marriage with Mary
CARVER in Staffordshire, and they came with their children to the United
States in 1911, and have lived in McDonald since.
 He is survived by his wife and four sons:  Joseph PHILLIPS, of Toronto,
Canada, Abel PHILLIPS of Pawtucket, R. I., and Harold PHILLIPS of North
street, McDonald.  A son Ernest Phillips was killed in the World war.  A
brother John Phillips of Cherry Valley also survives.  There are 11
grandchildren.
 Funeral services have been tentatively arranged for 2:30 o'clock Monday
afternoon, conditioned upon the son's arrival from Canada.  Services will be
held in the Leonard PHILLIPS home in Railroad street in charge of his pastor
the Rev. B. F. HEANY of the First Presbyterian church.  Burial will be in
the Robinson's Run cemetery.

John Clifford MCELHANY, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. John S. MCELHANY of Fanny
street, McDonald, died shortly after five o'clock Wednesday morning, March
18, 1931, in the Mercy hospital, Pittsburgh, from a cerebral hemorrhage.
While skating at Duquesne Gardens, Pittsburgh, Tuesday evening, he had
slipped on the ice, striking his head.  He and his companions immediately
started for home.  On the way to McDonald Clifford complained of pain and on
reaching home a doctor was called, who at once sent him to the hospital.
 Clifford was born September 22, 1910 in McDonald.  He attended the McDonald
schools and was graduated from the McDonald high school in 1928.  For the
past two years he had been employed by the Columbia Steel and Shafting Co.
in Carnegie.
 Besides his parents he leaves two sisters and a brother:  Mary, Florence,
and Curtis, all at home.
 Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the
family home 123 Fanny street, in charge of the Rev. B. F. HEANY of the first
Presbyterian church, who will be assisted by the Rev. L. G.RICHEY of the M.
E. Church.  Burial will be in Robinson's Run cemetery.

Jesse RUFFIN, 26, died Tuesday morning, March 17, 1931 of pneumonia, in the
home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George RUFFIN at Pitco (Montour No. 2) and
John RUFFIN, 24, died of pneumonia Wednesday evening, March 18, 1931, in the
Mayview hospital, where he was taken following injuries sustained in the
mine.  Their sister Caroline died March 4.
 Besides their parents a number of brothers and sisters survive.
 Funeral services will be held for the brothers at two o'clock Saturday
afternoon n the home in Pitco.  Burial will be in the Robinson's Run
cemetery.

Herbert G. VANKEUREN, 70, died Sunday night, March 22, 1931, in the home of
his daughter Mrs. James W. DONALDSON, 117 Center avenue, McDonald.  He had
been ill for several months.
 Mr. VANKEUREN was born in Riceville, Crawford county and had resided in
McDonald the past 35 years, working in the oil fields most of the time.  A
member of the Knights of Maccabees he was a district organizer of the order,
and at his death he was a commander of the McDonald tent.  He was also a
member of the First United Presbyterian church of McDonald.  Mrs. VANKEUREN
died in 1923.
 He leaves the following children:  T. H. VANKEUREN of Charleston, W. Va.,
C. R. VANKUREN of Tuttleman City, Calif., Mrs. C. E. MCDOWELL of
Monongahela, Mrs. James W. DONALDSON and Everett VANKEUREN of McDonald.
 Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Donaldson home in
charge of the Rev. S. A. MCCOLLAM who was assisted by the Rev. A. R.
ARMSTRONG.  Burial was in the Robinson's Run cemetery.

John GROSSHEIM, 69, died at 10:30 p.m. Sunday March 8, 1931, in his home in
North avenue, McDonald, following an illness extending over a period of ten
months.
 Mr. GROSSHEIM had been a resident of McDonald for forty-five years and was
widely known.  He was born December 4, 1861, on a farm near Cabot, Butler
county.  His father Henry GROSSHEIM emigrated from Germany in early youth
and married Catherine Heck who was born near Freeport.
 John GROSSHEIM left the farm when still in his teens and was apprenticed to
an uncle, a shoemaker in Freeport.  He completed this apprenticeship in
three years and to broaden his experience he went to Leechburg and then to
Wylie avenue extension, Pittsburgh, remaining several years in each place.
Forty-five years ago he came to McDonald and started in business for
himself.  He was industrious and thrifty and in due time became prosperous,
but he stuck to his little shop until disease and the disabilities of age
obliged him to quit the work which he enjoyed.
 On April 13, 1893, he was united in marriage with Miss Dora CARL.  They ere
married in Bloomfield, Pittsburgh, by the Rev. U. RAENGAERTNER, pastor of
Baum's Evangelical Lutheran church.  Mrs. GROSSHEIM survives him with two
sons and one daughter:  Elmer C. GROSSHEIM of Aliquippa, Otto J. GROSSHEIM
of Swissvale, and Laura the wife of Colonel YOHO of McDonald.  There are two
grandchildren.  Two sisters Miss Bertha and Miss Margaret, who live on the
old home farm in Butler county, and a brother Henry of Arnold, near New
Kensington, also survive.
 Mr. GROSSHEIM joined the Lutheran church of McDonald about forty years ago
and was a faithful attendant upon its services.  He held various offices in
the congregation and for a number of years was superintendent of the Sunday
school
 Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Evangelical Lutheran
church, west of McDonald, conducted by the Rev. J. H. TARNEDDE of McKees
Rocks and the Rev. Paul PORATH of Brookville, former pastors.  Burial was in
the Robinson's Run cemetery.

Alfred DEHOUX Obituary

Archie FOSTER of North BESSEMER, formerly a resident of McDonald and
vicinity, died Monday, March 9, 1931, of pneumonia.
 Mr. Foster was born October 1872 in Scotland.  He came to the United States
with his parents when he was about twelve years of age.  Mr. FOSTER followed
mining nearly all his life, in late years having been employed as mine
safety superintendent of the Hanna Coal Co.
 Besides his wife Mrs. Sarah MULLEN FOSTER he leaves the following children:
Eugene FOSTER of Pittsburgh, Miss Jennie, Miss Anna and Miss Ruth FOSTER at
home and Mrs. EDWARD WAGNER, with whom Mr. FOSTER resided.  A brother and a
sister also survive:  Gilbert FOSTER of Wylam, Ala., and Mrs. John MCCOOK of
Campbellford, Ontario, Canada.  Mr. FOSTER was a nephew of Mrs. Bell
JOHNSTON of McDonald.  There are three grandchildren.
 Burial was in the Robinson's Run cemetery, with services at the grave
conducted by the Ref. B. F. HEANY, pastor of the First Presbyterian church
of McDonald.

Alfred DEHOUX Obituary

William HOGAN, 37, colored, died on Saturday, March 7, 1931, in the
Torrance State hospital near Blairsville of an affection of the brain. He
had been in the institution but five days. He is survived by his wife, who
resides in North street, near the borough line.
 Services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Rogers funeral chapel in Barr
street, conducted by the Rev. Mr. NORRIS, a colored minister of Pittsburgh.
Burial was in the Robinson's Run cemetery.

There is also a St. Patrick's in Canonsburg, Washington Co. The one that is mentioned in many of my obits is the one in Noblestown, Allegheny County. Also located just outside of McDonald, but a smaller and somewhat less well cared for cemetery, not too far from Robinson's Run. Victoria Hospodar Valentine
