Aged Brackenridge Man dies At Walnut Street Home

Stephen Kurn, aged 74 years, died Sunday at 12:10 pm, at his home on Walnut street. Brackenridge. He was one of the oldest and best known residents of the borough. (PA Death Certificate states age as 72 years, 8 or 9 months, 12 days.)

Surviving are his widow and the following children: William, Brackenridge; Harvey, Tarentum; Harry, Brackenridge; Mrs. Margaret E???? (Ewalt)?, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Oliver Smith?, Brackenridge; Mrs. Bertha Schemmler?, Jackson, Tenn.; one sister, Miss? Mary Kurn of Pittsburgh; and ?? grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:30 pm from Brackenridge M.E. church by D.L. Myers. Interment will follow at Prospect Cemetery.


NOTE that there is no mention of his daughter Bessie Virginia Kurn (Schutzler). But there is a daughter in Jackson Tennessee, where my mother Virginia Wilhelmena Schutzler (Smith) lived with her family when she was a girl. Perhaps they were visiting an aunt?
