OLD VETERAN PASSES AWAY

George W. Stump, Aged 73 Years, Died This Morning At 1:40
O'clock At His Home On First Avenue.

George W. Stump aged 73 years, a veteran of the Civil War and
one of the oldest residents of the town died this morning at
1:40 o'clock at his home on First avenue of a complication of
diseases.  Mr. Stump has been in poor health since last fall,
and during the past month his condition was such that his
death has been almost hourly expected.  He was a member of
Company I, 11th Regiment Pennsylvania Reserves and served
throughout the Civil War.  He was a member and past commander
of Eli Hemphilis Post G. A. R.  He is survived by the
following children:  William and Simon, of Braddock, Pa.,
Daniel, of Conemaugh, Harry H. and Thomas G. of Tarentum, and
Mrs. Mary Staymates of Avonmore.

Funeral services will be conducted from his late residence by
Rev. C. M. Miller of the M. E. church of which the deceased
was a member.  The hour for the service has not been
definitely arranged, but will likely be Saturday at 2 p. m. 

Note:  According to George's Death Certificate he was born in
1832 and would have been 76 when he died.
