DIES SUDDENLY

Prominent Cambria Steel Employee Siezed with Hemorrhages
Saturday Night

Joseph Daniel Stump, a yardmaster in the Transportation
Department of the Cambria Steel Company for many years, died
suddenly at his home, 16 Osborn street, Eighth Ward, at 10:35
o'clock Saturday night and was seized with a hemorrhage  a
short time later.  He died before a physician could be
summoned. The body was prepared for burial by Undertaker
Pendry and the funeral will take place at 2 o'clock Wednesday
afternoon, with burial in Headrick's Cemetery, above
Conemaugh.

Mr. Stump was born in Blairsville, Pa., in 1859, being a son
of George and Susanna Stump.  He came to Johnstown about 40
years ago and had since resided here.  

He was employed in the Transportation Department of Cambria
Steel for 25 years.  He lost a hand in Cambria Steel's employ
while making a car coupling 20 years ago.  

The deceased was married to Bertha M. Judy, daughter of Samuel
Judy, the well known Civil War veteran, April 24, 1890, by the
Rev. I. A. Smith.

Mr. Stump was a member of the First Brethren Church, Somerset
street.  He was also affiliated with the Brotherhood of
Railway Trainmen, No. 386, of Conemaugmh (sic).

He is survived by his widow and the following children:
Carrie, wife of Morgan Logue, of 1287 Franklin street; Helen,
wife of Charles Gardner, of 16 Osborn street; Roy, at home,
and Edgar, of Southmont, Four grandchildren also survive.

The following brothers and sisters also survive:  Simon Stump
of Wilkinsburg, W. C. Stump, of Braddock, and Harry Stump, of
Cleveland.
