CATHERINE SULLIVAN

SULLIVAN - On Saturday, July 4, 1891 at 8 p.m. CATHERINE SULLIVAN, aged 61 years. Funeral from the residence of her son-in-law J. E. McAdams, No. 137 Forty-Sixth st. on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. Services at St. Mary's church, Forty-sixth st. at 9 a.m. Friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend.


NOTES:

In the 1870 Census, Catherine Welsh Sullivan was living with her husband
Thomas.  Her age was listed as 44 and his as 50.  With them are William,
age 14, Kate age 12 and Lizzie age 10.   The birthplace of all five of
the Sullivans is listed as Ireland.  Thomas lists his occupation as
"peddler."

In the 1880 Catherine Sullivan Jr. married James E. McAdams, son of
James McAdams and Sarah Fagan.  Catherine listed her residence as
Thirty-Fifth and Liberty Avenue on the Marriage License Docket, and
James was living at  at 34th and Liberty.  They were married at  at St.
John the Baptist Church located at Thirty-Second St. and Liberty Ave.
Catherine and James had two sons, Thomas Joseph McAdams and James Emmett
McAdams and two daughters, Lydia and Catherine Gertrude, who married
Charles Doering in 1913.

In the 1880 census, Thomas's occupation was "invalid."  He and Catherine
are living with William and Elizabeth, but they then had an adopted son
Michael, age 8.  Lizzie married John Pfrenzinger.  She died on January
2, 1922 and was buried in section  H-281 of St. Mary's Cemetery with her
sister Catherine and her brother-in-law James E. McAdams.

Catherine Welsh Sullivan was buried in Section R Row 21, St. Mary's
Cemetery, Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, with her husband Thomas (d. Feb. 1886
age 62 years) and son William (d. October 1928 age 74 years).
