ELIZABETH WIEDMAN

Mrs. Elizabeth WIEDMAN, aged 84, one of the pioneer residents of Sharpsburg, died in her home in Penn Street, Sharpsburg, today. She was the widow of August WIEDMAN, who died 39 years ago. She was born in Greensburg, Westmoreland County, and moved to Sharpsburg in 1843 and has resided there since. The trip from Greensburg was made in a oxen drawn conveyance. Years ago she walked to Fourteenth Street, Pittsburgh, from Sharpsburg, each Sunday to worship. Mrs. WIEDMAN was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, and is survived by her daughter, Katherine WIEDMAN, and two sons, Joseph WIEDMAN and Peter WIEDMAN.

Note:  Elizabeth was born February 12, 1838 in Greensburg (Hempfield
Township), PA, and baptized at St. Vincent in Latrobe, PA, on June 10,
1838, by Rev. STILLINGER.  She was the daughter of Joseph SEIFRIED and
Christina WEGMAN from Gossersweiler, Rhenish-Bavaria.  The SEIFRIEDs
emigrated from their home town c 1834 and settled in Hempfield Township.
