Biography of GEORGE HERBERT WALKER BUSH

 
GEROGE HERBERT WALKER BUSH, was born 12 June 1924 in Milton, Massachusetts. He was educated at Phillips Academy, Andover, Massachusetts, and received a BA in Economics from Yale University in 1948. On 6 January 1945 in Rye, New York, he married Barbara Pierce, who was born 8 June 1925 in Rye, New York, a daughter of Marvin Pierce and Pauline Robinson. 
The professional career of George Bush:

     1944       Lieutenant in the United States Naval Reserves.
     1948-1951  equipment clerk and then salesman at Dresser Industries
     1951-1953  Co-founder of the Bush-Overbey Development Corporation (oil
		and gas)
     1953-1959  joined Hugh and William Liedtke to found Zapata Petroleum
		Corporation (of which he was the Director), which absorbed
		Bush-Overby and developed offshore drilling equipment.
     1954       Co-founder and President (1956-1964) of Zapata Offshore
		Company, Houston, Texas, of which he was also Chairman from
		1964 to 1966.
     1963-1964  Republican Party Chairman of Harris County, Texas.
     1966       candidate for the United States Senate.
     1967-1971  Member of the United States House of Representatives for
		Texas 7th District, where he was a Member of the Ways and
		Means Committee.
     1970       candidate for the United States Senate.
     1971-1973  Representative to the United Nations.
     1973-1974  Chairman of the Republican National Committee.
     1974-1975  United States Liaison Office, Beijing, China.
     1976-1977  Director of the Central Intelligence Agency.
     1977-1978  Chairman of the Executive Committee of the First International
		Bank of Houston.
     1977-1978  Adjunct Professor of Business, Rice University.
     1981-1989  Vice President of the United States
     1989-1993  41st President of the Untied States.
