Genealogical evidence suggests that Hammond MOBLEY who descends from John MOBLEY and Rachel PINDELL could be the progenitor of William, Zachariah, & Alexander MOBLEY of 1850 Gibson Co. Tennessee. The below will abstract of William MOBLEY, who died 1779 in Wake Co. North Carolina, is also evidence suggestive of a progenitor relationship between William, Zachariah, & Alexander MOBLEY of 1850 Gibson Co. Tennessee. Edward MOBERLY of Yorkshire Co. England, birth estimated as 1531-1587, and John MOBLEY of South River Parish, Ann Arundel County, Maryland, 1687 are the apparent ancestors of this North Carolina, Tennessee, and Arkansas MOBLEY family discussed below.

Lucy ALLEN (MOBLEY) the widow of William MOBLEY married William BLAKE on 23 May 1780. Deed records of Wake Co. North Carolina indicate that William BLAKE, who died in 1798, was the son of William BLAKE of Wake Co. This son of William BLAKE lived in Wake Co. at the time of his second marriage to Lucy ALLEN (MOBLEY) widow of William MOBLEY. William BLAKE and Lucy ALLEN (MOBLEY) (BLAKE) later moved to Wilkes Co. Georgia in that part which later became Elbert Co. accompanying him were his children from his first wife, name unknown, his children by Lucy and Lucy's children by William MOBLEY. Below is the will of William BLAKE and deed records establishing a familial relationship.
Will Book 1791-1803, the Will of William BLAKE. In it he left property to his wife Lucy and children: "my youngest son Joseph BLAKE; my daughter Happy BLAKE; my children Lucy ADKINS, John BLAKE, William BLAKE, Rhoda ROGERS, Sarah HALL, Alcy COOK; my three daughters Patsy BLAKE, Nancy BLAKE and Olive BLAKE to be equally divided amongst them at the decease of their mother...." He appointed his wife Executrix and trusty friend Thomas JONES, son of John JONES, Executor. Witnesses were James BELL, William MOBLEY and Sally HUDDLESTON. The Will was recorded in Elbert Co. Georgia on 1 April 1798. An Inventory of the estate of William BLAKE was made on 8 June 1798. It included 24 head of cattle, 50 head of hogs, 10 head of sheep, one sorrel colt, one bay colt, one black ball horse, one dark bay horse, 26 geese, 7 slaves, one bee hive, one parcel of corn and bacon, and many items of kitchen utensils, furniture and farm implements.

Widow Lucy ALLEN (MOBLEY) (BLAKE) died on 28 Jun 1841 Troupe Co. Georgia at the age of 91 and is buried at Emannus Church Cemetery near Hogansville, Georgia. Allen MOBLEY is living in Lincoln Co. Tennessee, 1820. Zechariah and William MOBLEY are living in Gibson Co. Tennessee, 1830.

There is debate about the progenitor of Ransom MOBLEY. Some MOBLEY researchers believe that Ransom descends from Ezekiel MOBLEY, born before 1770 in NC marrying Susannah MOBLEY 1/9/1792 in Wake Co. The bondsman for that marriage was William BLEDSOE. Susannah MOBLEY was born around the year 1774, the daughter of Mordecai and Dorcas (READ) MOBLEY, in Wake Co. NC. She divorced Ransom in 1824 Maury Co. TN saying she did not know his whereabouts. Tentative placement puts Ransom as a son of Ezekiel MOBLEY based mainly on Ezekiel's association with Ransome Sutherland.
Some MOBLEY researchers are trying to prove or disprove this assumption of Ezekiel as the father of Ransom. There is debate over Ransom not being the son of Ezekiel & Sukey MOBLEY in Wake Co. NC. The 1800 Wake Co. census shows one son. That son should be Edward, who came to Maury Co. TN along with his three sisters and parents. Two of his sisters married in Maury Co. during the year 1817. Biddy married Peter JOHNSON and Polly married Abner JOHNSTON. Edward married Jane BRADSHAW in Maury Co. TN and later moved across the county line into Lawrence Co. TN where they raised their entire family. The one other sister, old maid "Aunt Liddie" Lydia, always lived with Edward & Jane until both died in 1863. The 1870 census lists her as living with Edward's son, also named Ezekiel.
Ransom MOBLEY was born on 1/1/1798 in NC dying 12/12/1842 Weakley Co. TN. He married on 2/13/1820 to Priscilla BAILEY, born in NC 1802 and died 10/12/1877 in Clay Co. AR. They bought land in Gibson Co. TN in 1825, were there in 1830 but not in 1840. His sons were in Greene & Clay Co. AR during the year 1860.
"John MOBERLY was born 1657-58 in England dying in Prince George's County Maryland, 1727. John may have been from the Parish of Moberley in Cheshire, England and perhaps made a stop in Barbados before coming to the New World. The births of his five sons are in the records of All Hallows, South River Parish, Ann Arundel Co. Maryland as early as 1688. He moved to Prince George's Co. Maryland by the early 1700�s, where John and Elizabeth were members of St. Barnabas Church. In March 1708 his five sons were reported to have received a Deed of Gifts of branded or otherwise marked livestock. John married Ann by 1686. He married second wife Elizabeth ROBERTSON/ROBINSON by June 1708, and third marrying on Feb. 28, 1716 in Prince George Co. Maryland to Mrs. Susannah (HYATT) SCAGGS, widow of Aaron SCAGGS. Susannah married for the third time on 6 November 1728 in Prince George Co. Maryland to Henry BOULTON. The second and third marriages of John and the third marriage of Susannah are recorded in the Prince George�s Co. Maryland, Queen Anne Parish Original Register, 1686-1777.
Ann was born about 1666 dying between 1699-1707 in Maryland. It has been suggested that Ann, the first wife of John MOBERLY and named as the mother of his sons, bore the given name Elizabeth Ann and was the Elizabeth WOODS who married John MOBERLY in Frodsham Parish, Cheshire, England on 21 October 1686. There is, however, no positive evidence that Elizabeth (WOODS) MOBERLY was the same person, as Mrs. Ann MOBERLY of Ann Arundel Co. Maryland.
Children of John and Ann MOBERLY:
1. John was born on 2 March 1687-87 in All Hallows, South River Parish, Ann Arundel Co. Maryland dying 5 August 1752 to May 1753, in Lunenburg Co. Virginia. He married in St. Barnabas Church, Prince George's Co. Maryland on 12 February 1711 or 1712 to Rachel PINDELL. The family moved to Lunenburg Co. Virginia sometime between 1733 and 1748, being listed on the church tithe lists from 1748 to 1752. By the mid 1750�s, their sons moved to North Carolina. Sons: Mordecai married Dorcas READ; Edward married Mary; Hammond married Avarella VINSON; and John possibly married Chloe.
2. James was born on 3 January 1690 or 1691 in All Hallows, South River Parish, Ann Arundel Co. Maryland dying before 6 January 1759. He married Elizabeth. James and Elizabeth had three sons: John (twin); Samuel (twin) married; and James married Ann.
3. William was born on 18 March 1693 in All Hallows, South River Parish, Ann Arundel Co. Maryland dying after 21 March 1743 in Tyrell Co. North Carolina. He married Sethy ANDERSON. William and Sethy had at least three children: Thomas married Mary RACKLEY? James, and William married Mary.
4. Edward was born on 13 May 1696 in All Hallows, South River Parish, Ann Arundel Co. Maryland.
5. Thomas was born on 18 January 1697-98 in All Hallows, South River Parish, Ann Arundel Co. Maryland dying 31 July 1769. One source reports he married Mary about 1720 (after the birth of his first two children). His children were: Rezin who married Mary FOWLER, Thomas married, Ezekiel married Susanna, John married Chloe CROUCH, Drusilla married Mr. PAIN, a daughter married Mr. RICKETTS, Susannah, Dorcas, Mary possibly married Philip HOPKINS, Levin married, and William married Catherine.
1. Anne was born on 5 February 1718-19 in Queen Anne's Parish, Prince George's Co. Maryland. She was the daughter of John and Susannah. Anne married, as his second wife, Giles VERMILLION of Prince George�s Co. Maryland the widower of Jane.
Edward MOBERLY was born 13 May 1696 in All Hallows, South River Parish, Ann Arundel Co. Maryland and died while living in Fairfield Co. South Carolina. His birth date is based on his being the son of John MOBERLY and Ann. His death date has been reported as late as 1787. There is uncertainty in the fact of Edward MOBERLY, son of John and Ann MOBERLY, is the same person as Edward MOBERLY, father of Clement MOBERLY. Edward may have been the son of Edward MOBERLY, the schoolmaster, and his wife Rachel. This Edward, together with sons and sons-in-law, are found in tax lists of Lunenburg Co. Virginia, 1748-52. This family moved to Craven Co. South Carolina between 1755 and 1760 according to evidence reported in MOBLEY'S In America.
Edward was probably married three times, his first wife being the unknown mother of probably all of his children except the youngest two. Edward's first wife died before 1741, and he married second wife Anne, who died between 1747 and 1751, probably in Lunenberg Co. Virginia, the probable mother of Elizabeth and Keziah. Edward married third wife Susannah DUVALL between 1747 and 1751. Susannah birth is recorded in 1702 Maryland dying 14 June 1769 in Fairfield Co. Camden District, South Carolina according to a CHAPMAN Family Bible. It has been suggested that Susannah was the daughter of Lewis DUVALL, and granddaughter of Huguenot immigrant Mareen DUVALL, however, unverified sources indicate that Susannah, daughter of Lewis DUVALL, never married. Edward married his first wife about 1718 in Prince George's Co. Maryland.
Children of Edward MOBERLY and his first wife:
1. Dorcas was born around the year 1720, and she married Richard HILL.
2. Clement was born around the year 1722 in Bedford Co. Virginia dying about 1790 in Madison Co. Kentucky.
3. William was born between the years 1724-30 in Virginia. He died on 20 December 1766 in Fairfield Co. South Carolina receiving three land grants totaling 450 acres in northwest Fairfield Co. South Carolina in 1758 and 1759. William served in the South Carolina militia. In 1762, William sold 200 acres of land to his brother Edward. He married Ann OSBORNE at least by the year 1750. The children of William and Ann MOBERLY are: Eleazer who married Ann LYLES, a widow, William who married Frances 'Fanny' ROGERS, Samuel did not marry, Isham married Susanna MOBLEY, daughter of Clement MOBERLY and Mary FOX, Jemima married Edward LOVEJOY; Capt. Thomas married Mary FUNDERBURGH the daughter of Henry and Mary, Dorcas married William HILL, Mary married Richard HILL, Keziah married Colin MOBLEY, and Elizabeth married Micajah 'Cage' MOBLEY brother of Colin.
4. Benjamin was born between the years 1728-32 possibly 1729 in Virginia. He died between 1803-05 in Kentucky at the age of 75. He was listed in the Lunenburg Co. Virginia tax lists for 1749, 1750, and 1752. He moved to what is now Fairfield Co. South Carolina about 1759 receiving a land grant there in 1773. Benjamin served in the American Revolution from South Carolina moving to Kentucky about the year 1787 marrying Mary (PRICE) HILL, a widow, by 1760. The children of Benjamin and Mary MOBERLY are: John who married Nancy JENKINS, Benjamin who married Lavinia MEADOWS the daughter of John, Edward married Nancy ROEBUCK and then married second wife Martha JAMISON, Margaret married Francis Roe COLEMAN - ancestors of members of the Blackwood Brothers Quartet, Elizabeth 'Betsy' married William BOHNAR, Mary 'Polly' married James ROGERS, Samuel married a Miss SHELTON and then second wife Ann TURNER (TUDOR) or (TAYLOR), Isaac also married first wife Miss SHELTON and then married Peggy PATTERSON, Tabitha married John TURNER, Nancy married Wilson ADDISON and/or Daniel TUDOR, Lucinda possibly married Ed TURNER; and Keziah possibly married James LEE.
5. Sarah or Sallie was born around the year 1732. She married before 1752 in Lunenberg Co. Virginia to Jason MEADOR, Jr. He was the son of Jason MEADOR, Sr. and Elizabeth STONE being born about 1734 in Virginia and dying Fairfield Co. South Carolina, 1822. Both Jason MEADOR, Sr. and Jr. were signers of the Regulator Petition of 9 October 1790 while residents of Anson Co. North Carolina. The children of Sarah or Sallie and Jason MEADOR were Jason MEADOR, III who married Sophia LOWREY, Edward, William Hill who was married, Lewis, Thomas who was married, Hugh, Sophia Elizabeth married Elisha HORNE, and Obadiah married Mary Sarah 'Polly' VINES.
6. Mary 'Polly' was born sometime around the year 1734 marrying Thomas HALSELL, born in Lunenberg Co. Virginia, 1752 dying Fairfield Co. South Carolina, 1786.
7. Edward was born 25 December 1735 in Virginia dying 17 October 1781 in Fairfield Co. South Carolina. His estate was appraised on 10 November 1782. He served military duty during the Cherokee War in South Carolina. Either he or his father obtained four land grants in northwest Fairfield District, South Carolina from 1769 to 1773 totaling 350 acres. Edward also served 171 days of military duty during the American Revolution. Edward, his wife, and two daughters died of the same illness in a four-day period during October 1781. He married Druscilla MEADOR by the year 1756. Druscilla was born 20 November 1738 dying 7 or 17 October 1781 Fairfield Co. South Carolina the daughter of Jason MEADOR, Sr. and Elizabeth STONE. The children of Edward and Druscilla MOBERLY were: Elizabeth who married Henry ROGERS, William married Elizabeth JENKINS, Edward married Amy HILL, Susannah reportedly married first husband Alexander ROBINSON, and then married Richard TOLLIFERRO, Levi married Rachel RABB and then married Sarah RABB, Ruthea died young, Reuben married Sarah COLEMAN, Lavinia married Henry CHAPMAN, and Sarah also died young.
8. John was born in 1737 and died after 1822. He married Mary BEAM the daughter of Albert BEAM and Sarah HALSELL of Fairfield Co. South Carolina. The children of John and Mary MOBERLY were: William B. who married Drusilla MEADOR, Isaac married Miss BROWN, Susan also married, and Jethro married Esther Lovejoy MOBLEY.
9. Samuel was born in 1739 dying during the winter of 1802-03 in Fairfield Co. South Carolina. He served in the Revolutionary War marrying 1 May 1761 to Mary 'Polly' WAGNER, born about the year 1743 and dying about 1812, the daughter of Hans WAGNER and Marie DELASHMETTE. Samuel's will was dated 21 December 1802 and was proved on 24 January 1803. His will and estate papers name all his children and/or sons-in-law except for Drucilla and Simeon. The children of Samuel and Polly MOBERLY were: Edward who married Mary MABRY, Samuel married Elizabeth (PICKETT) WHITEHEAD, Biggers married Joanna (LEWIS) CORBELL, John married Catherine 'Katie' (MILLER) McLEAN, Elizabeth married Richard MANSELL, Drusilla married John FEASTER, Susannah married John TAYLOR, Mary married David SHANNON, Lucretia married John ROBINSON, Nancy married Moses McKEOWN, Savilla married Thomas COLVIN, Dorcas married William PRICE, and Simeon died in infancy.
10. Susannah was born between 1737-43 dying 14 June 1769. She married Lewis MEADOR, born between 1730-33 in Virginia dying between 1803-05 in North Carolina, the son of Jason MEADOR, Sr. and Elizabeth STONE. Lewis was named in the will of his father as "my eldest son." The family resided in Anson Co. North Carolina with children: Isham, Levi who married Sarah RORIE, Lewis J., Mordecai married Rebecca, Susan married John GRIMES, and Job married Lucy RORIE.
Probable Child of Edward and Anne MOBERLY:
1. Keziah was born around the year 1743 and died after December 1826 in Kentucky. She married Thomas MEADOR about 1760. Thomas MEADOR was born about the year 1737 in Raleigh Parish, Essex Co. Virginia dying before 14 December 1826 in Whitley, Kentucky the son of Jason MEADOR, Sr. and Elizabeth STONE. Thomas and Keziah moved to Anson Co. North Carolina by November 1772 and moved to Whitley Co. Kentucky by 1810. Thomas signed a petition concerning the location of the Anson County courthouse in 1777 and 1783, and he also served military duty during the American Revolution. Thomas died before 14 December 1826 when his widow deeded 100 acres to son Pleasant. The deed was recorded 21 December 1826 in Whitley Co. Kentucky. The children of Keziah and Thomas MEADOR were: William; Jason who married Biddy BRADSHAW and then married second wife Martha SULLIVAN, John married Jemima MELTON and second wife Delilah JONES, Thomas, Jr. married Elizabeth 'Betsy', Isham married Sarah, Isaiah married Obedience 'Biddie', Dorcas married Wiley M. WORLEY, Edward Mobley married Abigail THOMAS, Middleton, and Pleasant married Sarah. Elizabeth was born around the year 1746 and married Job MEADOR, born sometime around 1736 in Virginia dying October 1822 in Fairfield Co. South Carolina, the son of Jason MEADOR, Sr. and Elizabeth STONE. Job bought land on Thompson�s Creek in Anson Co. NC in 1762 and sold it to William RUSHING in 1767. He is listed in the 1790, 1800 and 1810 census records of Anson Co. North Carolina. The children of Elizabeth and Job MEADOR were: John who married Rebecca MOBERLY, Thomas married Naomi CHANDLER, Edward married Rebecca, and Jason.
Clement MOBERLY was born around the year 1722 in Bedford Co. Virginia dying about 1790 in Madison Co. Kentucky. Clement was the son of Edward MOBERLY and owned land on the Otter River in Bedford Co. Virginia, which he sold in 1759, having moved to Craven District (now Fairfield Co.) South Carolina. In South Carolina, Clement received four land grants totaling 550 acres between 1765 and 1773. In 1787, he sold his South Carolina land and moved to Kentucky settling in Madison County. He is on the tax list of Madison Co. Kentucky for 27 April 1789. Clement married Mary FOX about the year 1740.
Mary FOX was born 1 April 1722 in Fairfield Co. South Carolina the daughter of David FOX and Elizabeth.

1. Benjamin was born around the year 1744 in Virginia serving military duty during the American Revolution. He moved to Kentucky about the year 1797 marrying Mary SUTTON. The children of Benjamin and Mary MOBERLY were: Robert, Sally who married E. COVINGTON and probably others, Clement was born on 4 October 1746 in Bedford Co. Virginia and moved to Fairfield Co. South Carolina with his parents. He served in the American Revolution moving to Madison Co. Kentucky after the war. He appears on the tax list of Madison Co. Kentucky for 27 May 1787 later moving to Warren Co. Kentucky and Crawford Co. Arkansas on 7 February 1834. Clement attested to his brother Isaiah's Revolutionary War service, and Clement and his wife Sibella made confirming statements. He married on 7 July 1770 in Fairfield Co. South Carolina to Phoebe LASHLY. Clement's second wife was named Sibella. The children of Clement and Phoebe MOBERLY were: Reason who married Caroline O'NEILL, Isaiah married second wife Nancy COX, Charles died young, John also died young, Vashti married Soloman TAYLOR, Nancy married Harvey O'NEAL, Charles married Elizabeth 'Betsy' SNODGRASS, John married Sarah K. FLETCHER, James married Betsy COX, Clement 'Clem' married China, and Edward married Sarah SIMPSON.
2. Ann 'Nancy' was born between 1745-49 in Bedford Co. Virginia dying in Fairfield Co. South Carolina. She married Richard NEELEY.
3. Isaiah was born on 14 December 1754 in Fairfield Co. South Carolina dying 23 October 1836 in Lee Creek, Crawford Co. Arkansas moving to Kentucky his parents after the American Revolution. He appears on the tax list of Madison Co. Kentucky on 27 April 1789 serving in the Revolution from 1775-1782. Isaiah married about the year 1780 in Fairfield Co. South Carolina to Frances 'Fanny' COLEMAN the daughter of Robert COLEMAN and Frances MATHIS. The children of Isaiah and Fanny MOBERLY were: Elijah who married Salome GUICE and then second wife Martha MAY, Isaiah married Nancy GUICE and then a second unknown wife and third wife Mary 'Polly' KING, Sion Fountain married Barbara GUICE, possibly James, Frances married Anthony TURNEY, Vashti married Daniel TURNEY, Rebecca married Burwell COX, Sicily married William JOHNSON and second husband Guilford PLYANT, Nancy married George BRIGGS, Robert, David, and Pinkey H. married Isaac P. SPENCER.
4. William was born around the year 1756 in Fairfield Co. South Carolina dying about 1807 in Fairfield Co. He married Nancy COLEMAN, daughter of Robert COLEMAN and Frances MATHIS, about the year 1786. The children of William and Nancy MOBERLY were: Larkin who married his second cousin Lucy MOBLEY the daughter of Keziah and Colin MOBLEY (ancestors of Mary Ann (MOBLEY) COLLINS, Miss America 1959), Fanny married Charles P. COLEMAN, Joab who was married, Candace married William McGRAW, Zachariah who was married to Frances or Fanny, William C., Green Berry married first wife Savilla HILL and then second wife Mrs. Henrietta WILSON, and Wiley who was also married.
5. Mary 'Polly' was born around the year 1764 in Fairfield Co. South Carolina marrying Charles COLEMAN who died Fairfield Co. South Carolina, 1788.
6. Susannah was born around the year 1766 in Fairfield Co. South Carolina marrying Isham MOBLEY the son of William MOBLEY and Anne OSBORNE. The children of Susannah and Isham MOBLEY were: Isham, Jr. who married Penelope, and Hester Hunt married Robert YOUNGUE.
7. Edward was born around the year 1770 in South Carolina marrying Nancy SUTTON about 1800. No additional data concerning this family is attached. Harbert is thought to be the son of Alexander. Alexander MOBLEY's estimated birth is between 1730-40 dying around 1810. He married somewhere around 1750 to the widow ___ FLOYD. Another Alexander, however, was in the Edgefield Co. SC 1830 census. A Zachariah MOBLEY born in 1793 is in the 1850 Gibson Co. TN census. It is not known whether this is the same Zachariah MOBLEY who married Fanny HALL in Wake Co. NC. Zachariah is thought to be another son of Alexander or the son of William MOBLEY discussed in the above introduction.
Zachariah MOBLEY married on 12/10/1813 to Fanny or Frances HALL according to knowledgeable MOBLEY researchers. Harbert MOBLEY was the bondsman and R. Smith witnessed the document. Zachariah MOBLEY is in the 1820 census index for Wake Co. NC and in Wake Co. Book 13.

It is not certain whether William MOBLEY, married to Gilly, and their children are descendants of William MOBLEY, who died 1779, or are descended from John MOBLEY and Rachel PINDELL. What is certain is that William and John MOBLEY both descend from the Edward MOBERLY line from England.

Joseph died 2 February 1882 in Sugar Grove, Logan County, Arkansas. He is buried at the Sugar Grove cemetery, Logan County, Arkansas and Isabelle Ladd is buried at County Line cemetery Logan County, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Enoch Ladd and Angeline. MOBLEY/MOBBERLEY, CLEMENT-Revolutionary War Pension Application #S3l866, dated 7 February 1834 Crawford County, Territory of Arkansas. He was born in Bedford County, Virginia 4 October 1746. When he was first drafted into service he was residing in Camden District, South Carolina, and he paid Captain Robert Hancock 50 pounds to hire a substitute for him. He next was drafted and served under Captain Hancock in a Regiment of South Carolina Militia under command of Colonel John Winn. He finally volunteered into a company of regular soldiers and was stationed at Ninety-Six. After the war he moved to Madison County, Kentucky, and from there to Warren County, Kentucky. He moved to Crawford County, Territory of Arkansas in April 1831. When asked if he has witnesses to his military service his answer was "my brother Isaiah and his wife, Francey Mobley, of this county".
MOBLEY, DAVID-War of 1812 pension application W. O. #189l5, W. C. #12726. Service in Captain Thomas Well's Company from 20 September 1814 to 20 April 1815. In April 1858, David Mobley was 63 years old and a resident of Antoine, Pike County, Arkansas. He was married to Barbary Coyer 8 July 1817 in Clark County, Arkansas. He died in Pike County on 5 March 1859. Widow, Barbary, applied for pension 27 April 1878.

MOBLEY, ISAIAH-Revolutionary War Pension Application #S3l864, dated 7 February 1834, Crawford County, Territory of Arkansas. He was born in South Carolina 14 December either 1754 or 1755. He was residing in Fairfield District when he was first drafted into service in a Company of South Carolina Militia under command of Lieutenant Ephriam Lisle in Colonel John Winn's Regiment. He stated that he had not served in any specific engagement, but was involved in several skirmishes with Tories. After the war he moved to Warren County, Kentucky for awhile and then to Crawford County, Territory of Arkansas circa 1830. When asked if he had witnesses to his military service he named "my brother Clement Mobley and his wife, Sibella, of this county."

I, J. W. HORTON, do solemnly swear that the testimony I am about to give concerning Elisha Reynolds shall be the truth, the whole and nothing but the truth, so help me God. I, John W. HORTON, am acquainted with Elisha Reynolds and am not related to him and also was with his father Ned Reynolds and his mother, Mrs. Rend Reynolds. I first got acquainted with him about the year 1860 and lived neighbor to him and family when the war began and before and during the war and have seen him off and on ever since. I was to young for military service during the Civil War but I had relatives on all sides were in the army. I had an uncle, Captain William Ashmore who was in the Confederate Army, he together with my father and several others was killed by the Federals in a mile or two of what is now the town of Sugar Grove in this County. Those who were with Captain Ashmore and were killed were my father, John HORTON, Allen Silvers, Henry Harrison and they captured three prisoners at the time they killed these and afterwards killed one named Elkins and Rogers and turned one, SOL MOBLEY, loose.
Elisha Reynolds was a member of Captain Ashmore's organization and after he was killed Reynolds joined some other command. I do not remember what command it was and served the rest of the war. A boy, son of Silvers, who was killed with Ashmore myself and a lot of neighbor women buried all of them that were killed at a grave yard near Sugar Grove where their remains are still. At that time the women and the boys had to do all the burying in the country. This man Reynolds, of whom I am testifying, disappeared from my view about the last of the war and the next I saw of him was directly after the war. I stayed all night with him in Texas and have seen him off and on ever since. He had three sisters and a brother, John. I have also known John Ladd before and since the Civil War. He lived in the same neighborhood with the rest of us. He belonged in a cavalry command at the time Ashmore was killed but don't think it was Ashmores. My father served part of the time with John Ladd. Elisha Reynolds now lives near Ardmore, Oklahoma.. Further Deponent sayeth not.

RAYMOND WILSON married ONA G. FLURRY from Delaware, AR and had three children. AYMON (AYMOND) HAYS WILSON worked for an Awning Co. in Little Rock, AR for many years dying in the early 1980's. He is buried in Maumelle, AR having at least one son WATSON HAYS WILSON who married SYLVIA. DELFINA (DELFIEA) died at the age of 13 from a fall off a horse. LOLA WILSON married a WILKINSON having several children. NORMA MAY married having several children and died in a Nursing Home in Russellville, AR. EDITH F. WILSON (DOLLIE) may have suffered from a childhood disability, polio.
