Thomas M. and Anna (Moe) Anderson

     Thomas (a.k.a. Torsten) Monson Anderson was born to Mons Anderson and Martha Torstensdtr. on January 2, 1858 on a farm called Haugen under �vre Voll in L�rdal, Sogn, Norway. He came to America with his parents and many other relatives in 1861, living first in Holden Township, Goodhue County, Minnesota before settling in Steele County. There Thomas married Anna Halvorsdtr. Moe on May 25, 1883. Born June 14, 1866 on a farm called R�shaugen under R� in L�rdal, Sogn, Norway, she came to America with her parents Halvor and Britha Moe in 1878. Thomas was a farmer, buying his parents' farm in 1883, and he also held a variety of offices in his church, school, and the Havana Telephone Company. He was the director of the Deerfield Mutual Fire Insurance Company for many years, and he donated the land for the Lysne post office and the Anderson railroad station. Thomas and Anna had twelve children: Mary Bertine, born September 22, 1883; Hattie T., born May 27, 1885; Lulla Anna, born December 24, 1886; Melvin Oscar, born October 5, 1888; Clara Alvina, born April 23, 1891; Elma Rodena, born February 9,1893; Arthur Theodor, born April 3, 1895; Myrtle Olava, born May 8, 1897; Erwin Wilhelm, born November 24, 1899; Esther, born August 26, 1902; Reuben Harold, born March 3, 1905; and Clifford Bernard, born July 29, 1908. Anna was an invalid for 10 years before she died on April 29, 1925 in Owatonna. Thomas survived her by almost twelve years, passing away on April 5, 1937.
