I obtained John's obituary through a very good friend
of mine that lives in Jacksonville. It reads as
follows:
NESSMITH - John William NesSmith, 84, of Yulee, FL,
passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2001 in Fernandina
Beach, FL. Born September 6, 1916 in Statesboro,
Georgia, he has been a longtime resident of
Jacksonville, Florida. He was the owner of NesSmith
Corporation and had worked for Respress-Grimes
Engraving prior to going into business for himself.
He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School and was
a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Navy as
a photographer and was the founder and past president
of the NaeSmyth Genealogical Society, Inc. Mr.
NesSmith was preceded in death by his wife of 25
years, Leo Geraldine NesSmith. He is survived by: 2
daughters, Geri Sutton and Dorothy J. NesSmith, 2
sisters, Edith Reisen and Annie N. Dul'ree: a
brother, Wilbur C. NesSmith; 9 grandchildren; and 8
great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held
at 11:30 AM., Saturday, January 27, 2001 in Evergreen
Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL. (Gate 5) with Rev.
Michael Reeves officiating. Arrangements by George H.
Hewell and son Funeral Home, 4747 Main St.,
Jacksonville, FL. 32206
The Society sent flowers and will purchase a
genealogy book and donate it to the Library in
Statesboro, GA in his memory. This is where we hold
our annual meetings. The library will place a plate
on the inside front cover stating that it was donated
in his memory, then will send a thank-you note to the
Society. This note will be placed in the Society's
scrap book for all to see at our meetings.
We all loved John and his gentle ways. He truly was a
wonderful human being and will be missed by all.

MIDDLEWAY, W.Va. -
Thomas F. White, 97, of Middleway, died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999,
at Integrated Health Services of West Virginia in Charles
Town, W.Va.
Born March 2, 1902, in Middleway, he was the son of
the late William W. and Sarah Ella Swartz White.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna O. Zombro
White, in 1970.
He retired from Dixie-Narco
Company Inc. in Ranson, W.Va.
He was a member of Middleway
United Methodist Church in Middleway.
He is survived by three
daughters, Margaret K. Baker of Chambersburg, Pa., Betty
White Poston of Middleway and Mary Ellen Castleman of
Wadesville, Va.; four sons, William White and James White,
both of Middleway, Robert White of Charles Town and Julian
White of Houston; 24 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren;
eight great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by
three sons, Thomas White Jr., Charles Lee White and Richard B.
White; two sisters, Millie Chamblin and Thelma Kearns; and
three brothers, Gilmore "Jack" White, Leon White
and Leonard White.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m.
at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town.
The Rev. Charles Frum and the Rev. Patricia Drake will
officiate. Burial will be in Middleway Masonic Cemetery in
Middleway.
The family will receive friends
Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

James Allen
Castleman, 66, of Wadesville Road, Berryville, died Friday, June 24, 2005,
in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Castleman was born June 15, 1939, in Brucetown, the son
of William Benjamin and Nellie May Nesmith Castleman. He worked at the
former Doubleday Co. in Berryville for 29 years and retired in 1987.
He was a member of Brucetown United Methodist Church.
He and his wife, Mary Ellen Castleman, married Dec. 31, 1969,
in Hagerstown, Md.
Surviving with his wife, are a daughter, Cheryl Lynn
Castleman; and five sisters, Violet Day and Evelyn Patton, both of
Winchester, "Lottie" Thompson of Bunker Hill, W. Va., Madeline Markle of
Stephenson, and Ruby Hildebrand of Brucetown.
Two brothers, William Benjamin Castleman Jr. and Melvin
Thomas Castleman, are deceased.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Shenandoah
Memorial Park Mausoleum, with the Rev. Marc Roberson officiating.

Brucetown Road, Brucetown 22622.
