Nathaniel DAY ... Descendants ... Looking for more
information on the following DAY family: Generation No. 1
1. Nathaniel1 Day. He married Susan Wylie,
daughter of James Wylie.
Children of Nathaniel Day and Susan Wylie are:
+ 2 i. Martha2 Day, born Abt. 1750 in
Plumstead, Bucks Co., PA; died April 1806.
3 ii. David Day.
4 iii. Sarah Day.
5 iv. John Day.
Generation No. 2
2. Martha2 Day (Nathaniel1) was born Abt. 1750
in Plumstead, Bucks Co., PA, and died April 1806. She
married Charles Kinnison Abt. 1766, son of Edward
Kennison.
Notes for Martha Day: "She was born the sixth child
of Nathaniel and Susan Wylie Day. After the death of her
husband, Susan and her children went to W. Va. with her
father James Wylie and at about the time of Braddock's
defeat, ca. 1756, she and her children Martha, David and
Sarah were taken prisoners by the Shawnee Indians in the
Capon Springs region in Frederick County. On the morning
after the captivity, Mrs. Day remarked to her friends
that she believed the Indians intended to kill her.
Martha was asked why and she replied that they had given
moccasins to all of the prisoners but her and she was
left bare-footed. Suddenly an Indian walked up to Mrs.
Day and with his war-club struck her a stunning blow
between the shoulders, knocking the breath out of her,
and then in an instant, lifted her scalp-lock. She was
left in a state of insensibility and was a long time
recovering. David, the son, was killed, but Martha and
Sarah were rescued by an expedition led by their older
brother John Day (ancestor to J. Edward Day, U.S.
Postmaster, 1961). References, "Our Pioneer
Ancestors" written by Ruth Hendrick De Verter,

George Washington DAY ... married to Lydia Maud (? last
name unknown) would have been in the Missouri River area
of Central Missouri around the turn of 1900 range. They
have many children, one of which is Alberta May (or Mae)

Missouri. There is speculation that George Washington Day
was a Native American (possibly adopted or taken the Day
last name?). Thanks. Michelle (Hoover) Benskin at E-Mail.
