COLONIZATION - May 1787 Captain Arthur
Phillip took a fleet of ships from England to Australia
bearing 759 prisoners (568 men and 191 women) and more
than 200 soldiers. 26 January 1788, now known as
Australia Day is when Phillip's fleet (now known as the
First Fleet) colonized what is now known as Sydney (for
Lord Sydney, Home Secretary).

the Swan River Colony on 22 March, 1843. She weighed 621
tons and her master was Sampson KEEN. The voyage took 115
