One of the most enjoyabe lawm parties ever attended by a crowd of young people was given by Mr and Mrs J P Nuckolls at their beautiful country home near Rich last Friday night. All who were acquainted with the host and hostess can imagine how each and every one enjoyed thenselves and it was impossible to tear themselves away until the small hours of a new dy were reached, and then with hearty thanks slowly the crowd began to scatter.

South Christian Farmers Lose Hay and Corn
Messrs J P Nuckols and P V Carter, Church Hill farmers, suffered the loss of several stacks of hay and some fencing by fire a few days ago. The supposition is that the dry grass near the railroad tracks caught from sparks were thus ignited. Mr Nuckols estimates his loss at $250 and Mr Carter's loss will probably be &75 hay and fencing.

Two Suits Filed in Circuit Court by Church Hill Farmers
Mr J P Nuckols, of Church Hill, has sued the L & N for $250 damages, alleging that live cinders were emitted from the smoke stacks of passing locomotives, which ignited the grass and burned two stacks of hay. Mr Nuckols farm is situated just south of the defendants road, near Rich, on the Clarksville and Gracey division. Mr P V Carter whose farm lies on the opposite side of the railroad from Mr Nuckols has brought a similar suit, alleging the loss of twenty acres of clover and over a thousand rails by fire caused in a like manner.

Schoolhouse Near Church Hill Destroyed By Fire
Scholar Discovers Flames But Too Late to Save Either Building or Contents
The office in Mr J P Nuckols' yard near Church Hill was destroyed by fire last Thursday. The building was used as a schoolhouse, in which a subscription school was being taught. One of the scholars went out for a scuttle of coal and discovered the house in flames. An alarm was given, but the fire had made great headway and nothing could be done to save the structure. In a rear room a bed and considerable bedding, about 500 new wheat sacks, sixty bushels of stock peas and other articles were stored, all of which was also destroyed. The fire originated from a defective flue. Mr Nuckols' loss is probably $1,000. He had no insurance. His misfortune is a source of much regret to his many friends.
