Henry Loane started his Army Career in Stamford, Lincolnshire. He was posted to the 6th Battalion and then in June 1915, about a month before he was due to go to war, he was noted as being AWOL for 8 days, receiving 16 days pay forfeiture on the 22nd.

On the 1st of July 1915 he was deployed as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force that landed at Suvla Bay on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey on the 7 August 1915. A spit of land that was almost impossible to attack and protected by a well dug in enemy. On the 14th of August 1915, Private Loane was declared missing although the Ministry of War declared that he had died on or after the 9th of August.

He is remembered on the Helles War Memorial in Turkey on Panel 44 to 46. The memorial has 20,838 names in total.
