The Sykes Family

The Sykes family tree has not been researched in any depth. Charles Harvey drew up a family tree showing that a Sykes had married a Knowles and they had a son William Sykes born about 1769. He died 15 February 1835. He married first Hannah and then Ann Bewley (1723-1821). Hannah's children were:
Sarah 1785
Un-named son 1787
Charles 1788
Martha 1789 and Hannah.

It is thought that only Martha survived infancy.

The family tradition is that Martha eloped with William WARD (who did not live in Leeds at the time). A note by Franses Harvey states that he was not a publican! Martha was cast off but had twins and ran into her father one day. All was forgiven.
