Fees for Transcriptions
& Photos

I will be happy to transcribe tombstones and take photos of tombstones belonging to your ancestors!

Please remember that I want to assist you in your genealogical research as much as possible, but depending on the amount of information you can provide about the location of your ancestor's tombstone, I may or may not need to charge a fee to recover my costs.

For example, if you know the name and location of the cemetery where your ancestor is buried, then I do not need to research that information for you. If you only know the township or county location of your ancestor's place of rest, then it might take me hours of research to locate that cemetery and specific tombstone, in which case my service charge will apply (see below).

If a cemetery is within 30 minutes of my location (Kent, OH) - I will charge no fee. Distances greater than that (one way) necessitate an hourly fee so that I can recover the cost of gas.

Once I have found the requested tombstone(s), digital photos are ALWAYS free, and will be sent to you via email. Actual photos are a cost of 50¢ each, only to recover the cost of film and developing. Shipping will be through USPS Priority mail at a flat rate of $3.85.

Before I accept any request, you and I will discuss whether any fees apply, so that you know ahead of time and can make or retract your request accordingly. Payment of known fees may be requested up front.

Service Charges

PLEASE NOTE - Charges for photographs are in addition to service charges!

Hourly fee - $10 per hour. This fee will apply to all requests that require researching of a cemetery to find both the cemetery AND the tombstone(s), and any drive time over 30 minutes (each way - 60 minutes total). I will be happy to give an estimate of drive time fees up front. I regret that I cannot estimate research fees, because some cemeteries are easier to find, plot maps are more accessible, etc.

Photograph Fees

PLEASE NOTE - Charges for photographs (if applicable) are in addition to service charges!

Digital photos - no charge for the photograph(s), limit of 3 per stone face. Photos will be emailed at full size (1024x768). Will crop at your request. Hourly fee may be charged for cropping, depending on the number of pictures I need to crop.

Actual photos (4"x6") - 50¢ per picture. This recovers the cost of the film and the processing. Shipping will be a flat rate of $3.85 per package.

I'll be happy to transcribe and photograph tombstones that you request as long as they're within the following counties:
Cuyahoga, Portage, Stark, Summit
I'll even consider transcribing entire cemeteries, or sections of cemeteries on a case-by-case basis. Once in awhile I may have to charge a fee, depending on how much research and how much travelling I'll need to do, but would never do so without working out the details in advance with you.
