    Kitty MacKinnon, a long-time resident of Keizer, died in Newberg on Tuesday, October 27, 2015. She was born Kathryn Martha Mellenbruch on March 28, 1930 in Springfield, Ohio to parents Dr. P.L. Mellenbruch and Orpha Tonsing. She was the youngest of four daughters, and second cousin to Amelia Earhart. She graduated from Miami University Ohio and received her Masters of Music in Piano Performance from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. For the next 50 years Kitty sang, composed, performed and taught piano to students in Texas, California and Keizer. She was an active member of the Oregon Music Teachers Association, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Trinity Choir, Salem Federated Club and the Elsinore Theatre.

    Kitty met Allen J. MacKinnon, an engineer, at Miami University and they married in El Paso, Texas, in 1955. Allen preceded her in death in 1991.

    Kitty is survived by her son, Scott (Trish) and grandchildren Nicholas, Gabriel and Stephanie.

    A Memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Salem on November 7th at 10:00am. A reception will be held there following the service. A private family burial service will take place immediately following. In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church choir.
