Nancy L. GRAVES

     Nancy L. GRAVES, daughter of William GRAVES III and Mary Young, was born on 4 May 1811 in Oglethorpe County, Georgia.1 She was also known as Ann.

Nancy married Thomas Jefferson Varner, son of Sarah GRAVES, on 24 July 1832 in Lowndes County, Alabama.

After the death of her husband in 1843, Nancy moved from Caldwell Parish, Louisiana back to Lowndes County, Alabama, where her relatives lived. She died shortly after moving back.

Nancy L. GRAVES died on 6 July 1844 in Lowndes County, Alabama, at age 33.1 She was buried in Graves Cemetery #2.

Mary Ann GRAVES and John Gillon Rogers raised the four orphan children of Nancy L. GRAVES after her death in in 1844. This was done under the supervision of the Lowndes county orphan court. Mary Ann and Nancy were sisters.
