Welcome to the West Derby Municipal Cemetery in Liverpool. This site contains the contents of volumes compiled by Rob and Rose Anderson containing inscriptions from headstones found at the cemetery. The volumes, completed in 2017, have been deposited at the record offices in Liverpool as a resource to support family history research. Their contents are replicated here to extend this resource beyond the record offices.
If you visit the cemetery you will find that many stones have fallen flat on their back and, in the course of time, have disappeared below the turf. You will also find that many others are lying on their faces. We think we have been able to obtain all the inscriptions bar one stone and, even in that case, we have been able to find a relevant entry in the registers.
Please take a look at the ‘About the cemetery’ section for more information about the cemetery itself, the burial records and the project to compile the inscriptions on this site.
