Welcome to the Bootle Municipal Cemetery in the district of Sefton to the north of Liverpool. This site contains the contents of volumes compiled by Rob and Rose Anderson containing inscriptions from some 9099 headstones found at the cemetery. The volumes, completed in 2020, will be/have been deposited at Crosby Library and the record office in Liverpool as a resource to support family history research. Their contents are replicated here to extend this resource beyond the record office.
The inscriptions on this site should include all of the headstones that it was possible to read other than two in Consecrated Section 1 and Consecrated Section 2 which are large stones that have fallen on their faces and other stones have landed on top of them. You will also find that some of the headstones have disappeared below the turf and many are lying on their faces. Please take a look at the ‘About the cemetery’ section for more information about the cemetery itself, the burial records and the project to compile the inscriptions on this site.

From Rob:
Just a word in memory of my wife Rosemary who spent many years helping me record the head-stones in so many cemeteries but sadly passed away before this one could be completed.
