Individual Note
During the reign of King Henry VII, he built Otley Hall to replace the original Netherhall Manor. The hall, nine miles north of Ipswich, is still in use. Built on ten acres of land, including extensive gardens, the manor building is moated. The Gosnolds are supposed to have lived there for 300 years, first as tenants, then as owners, but the claim that they were originally tenants may result from a confusion of Otley Hall with the earlier Netherhall Manor on the same site.
