Individual Note

Parentage is in question. Professor David H. Kelley believes her parentage unproven (2003). De Vajay, in Annales de Bourgogne vol. 32 (1960) 258-261, identifies Stepanie (Etiennette) as the daughter of Clemence de Foix and Albert de Longwy, Duke of Lorraine (died 1048). Clemence is identified as the daughter of Bernard I Roger, Comte de Foix who died 1035 and Garsinde de Bigorre. Bernard is listed as the son of Roger I de Carcassonne and his wife, Adelaide. Moriarty, cit., supplies pedeigree charts for these families, but does not agree with de Vajay as to her identiy. Garnier shows her as the daugher of Raymond II, Count of Barcelona.2
