| Fallon | D. Gertrude "Trudy" | D. Gertrude "Trudy" Fallon, 76, died Saturday, May 15. Born in Hot Springs, she was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church parish and a past president of the Catholic Daughters of America. She also was a member of the Central Arkansas Iris Society. Mrs. Fallon enlisted in the Women's Army Air Corps in 1943 and was stationed in Pueblo, Colo., where she worked as an aircraft dispatcher. She received the WAAC Servie Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal. In later years, she was the secretary to the superintendant at Blakely Dam, moved to Little Rock and worked as a ward clerk at Fort Roots. She advanced to secretary to the Chief of Psychiatry before retiring. She is survived by one son, Paul J. Fallon and wife Ann of North Little Rock; her sister, Ethel Edds; her brother-in-law Joe Edds of Little Rock; and brother, Rudolph Stanley "Buddy" Hawkins of Hot Springs; three grandsons, Michael P. The body was brought to this city and services held at Gardner Memorial church at 3:30 o'clock Monday afternoon. At 9:15 o'clock Tuesday morning the body was sent by Owens and Company to Paragould for burial. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Willine of Prairie Grove, and Mrs. Q.O. Mr. Furnell was born in Bartlesville, Okla. He was an electrical engineer, retired from E-Systems. He graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering and from Southern Methodist University with a master of science degree in electrical engineering. | He was a member of Western Heights Christian Church, having served as chairman of the board, chairman of the elders, adult teacher and choir singer. He was a 50-year Mason, being a Past Master of Duck Creek Masonic Lodge No. 1419 AF & AM and an affiliated Past Master of Garland Masonic Lodge No.l 441 AF & AM. He was a 33rd Degree Inspector General Honorary inthe Dallas Scottish Rite Bodies wherehe was a Degree Master of the 16th Degree. He was presented the Silver Trowel Award by the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters of Texas. He received an appointment to the U.S.Naval Academy at Annapolis and served in the Navy during World War II. He was an amateur radio operator and a senior life member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. He is survived by his wife, Edith Farris Furnell; son, William Wayne Furnell III and daughter-in-law Pamela; two grandchildren; and daughter Elizabeth Farris Bryant of Garland.
