Arrival of the Wild Deer
Otago Witness September 24th 1881

Captain Kerr, of the ship Wild Deer, which arrived in Port Chalmers on Saturday, brought into port two crows, being the last survivors of 17 shipped along with a large number of smaller birds, the majority of which also succumbed to the effects of a long and stormy passage across the southern seas.
