MORRIS family:
Richard and Jane (n�e WELLS) MORRIS were from Warrington, Lancashire, and arrived in Lyttelton with their 3 chidren, William, Henry and Alice. Richard was a labourer in Warrington, and had served with British Imperial Force in Crimean War. For a few years Richard worked as a sawmillhand, labourer and rates collector in Oxford, Canterbury then in 1878 they moved to Invercargill, Southland. Richard and Alice are both buried at St John's Cemetery, Invercargill. Son William stayed in Oxford and married there. Henry, a bushman in Invercargill, married there
and was well known for his tight-rope walking. Daughter Alice married George Thomas HARRIS, a Builder & carpenter in Waikiwi, Southland. Both are buried in St Johns Cemetery, Invercargill. If you have any connection with this family or wish to share information please contact Joanna Broad

TAYLOR family:
Richard and Ann Taylor came from Manchester. They were married in Ashton Under Lyne on 2^nd June 1852. Richard was a cotton spinner, and the son of Richard Taylor and Anna (nee Thompson.) Ann’s parents were James and Mary Shaw. Also on board The British Crown were Ann’s sister Sarah Whitehead, and her family. Both families settled in Kaiapoi and remained close. The Taylor’s had a further two children born in NZ, Maria (1864) and Henry Shaw Taylor (1866.) Richard died of TB, aged 47, in 1876 and was buried in the Kaiapoi Church of England cemetery. Ann died and was buried in Halcombe, Rangitikei in 1898. Richard and Ann Taylor were my g-g-grandparents.
