GARMONSWAY and
STEWART families: Edward Watts Garmonsway and his wife Letitia arrived in New Zealand on board the Inchinnan as part of the establishment of the Royal New Zealand Fencibles. With them were five of their six children. One child, John aged 2, had died on the voyage out. Edward and Letitia's eldest son John Henry Garmonsway married Crichton Petrie in Auckland on December 19th 1859. The daughter of John Henry and Chrichton, named Letitia and born on March 10th 1862, married Robert Stewart (born November 26th 1854) the son of David and Janet Stewart who also arrived by the Inchinnan. Robert and Letitia Stewart had 10 children one of whom, Charles Francis Stewart (born in Hamilton on February 17th 1893) married Isabel Pickens. Their son, Donald Bruce Stewart (born 1926) married Jessie Margaret Alderton (born 1925) and their son, Raymond James Stewart is my husband. Raymond James (born in 1956) was the youngest of four children. He had two elder brothers, Robert Bruce Stewart (born 1951) & Douglas John Stewart (born 1955) as well as an elder sister, Margaret Anne Stewart (born 1953).
