Province of Wellington - December 1868

I, Isaac Earl Featherston, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington do hereby in compliance with the recommendation of the Board of Health for the Port of Port Nicholson appoint Soames’ (sic) Island within the Harbour of Port Nicholson to be a station or place for the performance of Quarantine and where the crew and passengers and other persons and the goods wares and merchandize from and on board vessels liable to Quarantine shall and may be detained landed and kept for the performance of Quarantine.
