91st PA--Edgar Gregory, Assistant Commissioner of the Freedmen's Bureau for Texas

General Gregory's order

[[General Gregory's order], The Houston Tri-Weekly Telegraph 18 October 1865 page 1]

We have received the order of General Gregory on the rights of freedmen. He says they will be protected in their rights, but will not be allowed to live in idleness, and he also directs that the agents of the bureau assure the negroes that there will be no division of property at Christmas, and calls on all good citizens to circulate the order which refutes this idea.
