THE HOME GUARD REGIMENT.--Last evening a meeting was held at Saranac Hall, composed of the committees appointed by the various companies of Home Guards, Reserve Greys, Reserve Blues, etc., favorable to the formation of a regiment to be offered to the General Government for active service.

Captain GREGORY was called to the chair and Lieutenant CHAPMAN was appointed Secretary. The following companies were represented:--First Regiment, Companies A, E, G, and H; Second Regiment, Companies B, C and G; Third Regiment, Company A; Union Guards, Naylor Home Guards, and Companies B and D of the Zouave Battalion. Nearly all of these companies are full.

On motion, the following resolutions were adopted:--

1. Resolved, That each company to be represented in this regiment, open their muster rolls at once.

2. Resolved, That the regiment serve for the term of three years, unless sooner discharged.

3. Resolved, That a committee of five be appointed for the purpose of ascertaining what arms, &c., can be obtained for the regiment.

The meeting then adjourned until Wednesday evening next.
