Sentinels on foot will upon seeing an officer approach within six paces of him halt bring his piece to a "shoulder" face out from the place he is gaurding [sic] and Salute officers above the rank of Captain with a "present." All others With the hand across the breast and remain in position untill [sic] the Officer has passed six paces.
Sentinels on post will carry their pieces on either Shoulder or at a Support
