91st PA--Mistakes

On 13 August 1863, the regiment was slow in posting the guard, because, as Sinex explained, they did not hear the signal. [letter, Sinex to Marvin]

On 5 September 1863, the lieutenant in charge of the picket detail (apparently Lt Shipley) did not report to the assistant adjutant general when the picket arrived, although they arrived on time [letter, Sinex to Marvin]. On 18 September 1863, Lt Shipley was relieved from command of company B--but no evidence links that to his apparent error, and another officer was relieved of command on the same day.

The regiment returned late from veterans' furlough, and with many men AWOL. See veteran volunteers for more information.
