He was born 1812/13, but claimed (when enlisted) to have been born in 1820/21 (4 (40 in 1861), 6 [47 in 1860], 7 [37 in 1850]). He was born in Lanohill [??], New York (4, 6, 7 [Dutchess County]).
In 1850, he seems to have been in Ossining Prison, in Westchester County, New York (7). He was in prison because of 2nd degree burglary, and had been in prison since 1856 (7). He was a tinman (7).
In 1860, he seems to have been in the county jail in White Plains, West Chester County, New York (6). He was in jail because of forgery (6). He was a tinsmith (6).
When he enlisted, he was a tinsmith (4).
When he enlisted, he had a light complexion, light eyes, and brown hair (4).
He enlisted and was mustered into service on 1 or 2 December 1861 (1 [1 Dec], 4 [2 Dec]). He was enlisted for three years, by Lieutenant Weeks, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (4). He wwas a private in company K (1, 8).
He was transferred on 24 December 1861 to company F, by a regimental order dated 4 January 1862 (1, 4, 5).
He died of delirium tremens, on 28 July 1862 in the 91st's Hospital, at Alexandria Virginia (1, 3, 4). He had last been paid through 30 June 1862, by Major Bruce (3). He was a private, in company F (8). He was buried in the Alexandria National Cemetery, Alexandria, Virginia, grave 111 (1) or 119 (2).
