Before the war

He was born in 1841/42 (2 (23 in 1865), 3 (23 in 1865)). He was born in France (2, 3).

He was a sailor (2, 3).

Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 4-1/2 inches tall, and had a dark complexion, brown eyes, and dark hair (2, 3 [fair complexion]).

During the war

He was a substitute for G S Wallace (1, 2?, 3, 4). He enlisted and was mustered into service on 28 February 1865 (1, 2, 4) or 28 March 1865 (3). He was enlisted for one year, at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, by Captain Eyster (2, 4). His enlistment was credited to the sixteenth congressional district (2, 3 [6th]). He was mustered in as a private in company A (1, 4, 5).

At some point, he seems to have been in company G (3).

He received clothing worth $36.82 (3).

He mustered out with his company on 10 July 1865 (1, 4). He was a private, in company A (5).
