Before the war

In 1860, he was living in ward 1, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (8). He was living with Margaret (presumably his wife), George, Thomas, John, James, Robert, and Margaret (presumably their children (8). he was a laborer (8).

When he enlisted, he was a carpenter (4).

Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 7 inches tall, and had a dark complexion, gray eyes, and light hair (4).

During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service on 1 or 9 August 1862 (1 [9 Aug], 4 [1 Aug], 7 [9 Aug]). He was enlisted for three years, by Lieutenant Gregory [?], at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (4). He was a private in company F (1, 9).

His clothing was issued by the Adjutant General's Department at Harrisburg Pennsylvania (4).

He was discharged at camp in the field on 13 February 1863 on surgeon's certificate of disability (1 [13 Feb 62], 2 [12 Feb 63], 3 [13 Feb 63], 4, 7 [13 Feb]). He was a private, in company F (9).

After the war

On 10 March 1863, he applied unsuccessfully for a pension (6, 7).

He died on 1 June 1881 (5, 7). He was buried in the Philadelphia National Cemetery, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (5).
