In 1860, he was living in ward 16, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (5). He was living with Samuel and Margaret Chambers (presumably his parents), and with Amer Chambers (presumably his sister) (5). He was not working (5).

Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet tall, and had a dark complexion, hazel eyes, and brown hair (3).

During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service on 21 February 1862 (1, 3). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain Casner (3). He was mustered in as a private in company K, by Lieutenant J A Gregory (1, 3, 8).

He was killed on 3 May 1863 at Chancellorsville, Virginia (1, 6 [missing], 7 [missing]). He was a private, in company K (8). He was reported missing in action on 7 May 1863 (2).
