I've split this into two sections, one with the very limited evidence clearly linked to the Jesse Conard who enlisted in the 91st, and the other two with two candidates. The evidence doesn't (yet) prove whether those two candidates are the same person, or two distinct people.
He was born in 1831/32, in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. [sources: date: 1 (30 in 1862). place: 2]
When he enlisted, he was a shoemaker. [source: 2]
When he enlisted, he had blue eyes, dark hair, and a fair complexion, and was 5 feet 7-1/2 inches tall. [source: 2]
On 13 October 1862, he enlisted, as a volunteer, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was enlisted for three years by Lieutenant J A Gregory. He was paid $25 in bounty, and a $4 premium. He was a private, in company C. [sources: 1, 2]
