Before the war

He was born on 8 May 1838 (10, 11; 3 (25 in 1863), 4 (25 in 1863), 7 [12 in 1850], 8 [22 in 1860], 11 [62 in 1900], 12 [70 in 1910], 13 [82 in 1920], 15 [33 in 1870]). He was born in Wayne County, Pennsylvania (3, 11, 12, 13, 15). He was born to Amos and Susan Denslow (7, 14).

In 1850, he was living in Clinton Township, Wayne County, Pennsylvania (7). He had attended school in the previous year (7).

In 1860, he was living in Clinton Township, Wayne County, Pennsylvania, probably with his parents (8, 14). He was a saywer (8, 14 [lawyer]).

When he enlisted, he was a laborer (3).

Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 10 inches tall, and had a brown complexion, gray eyes, and black hair (3).

During the war

He also served in company H of the 77th Pennsylvania Infantry, and in company D of the 77th Pennsylvania (2).

He was drafted (1, 4, 5). He enlisted and was mustered into service on 1 August 1863 in company D of the 118th Pennsylvania Infantry, at Frankford, Pennsylvania (1, 3, 4 [7 Aug], 5). He was enlisted for three years, at Frankford, Pennsylvania, by Captain Yardley (?) (3). He served in company H of the 118th Pennsylvania Infantry (5).

On 2 June 1865, he was transferred from the 118th Pennsylvania Infantry to the 91st Pennsylvania, by special order 138, headquarters, Army of the Potomac (1 June 1865) (3). He was a private in company A of the 91st Pennsylvania (1, 16).

He was discharged on 1 July 1865 by general order (1, 2 [has 2 Jul], 3, 4 [special order, war dept], 9 [for disability]). He was a private, in company A (16).

After the war

In 1867/68, he married Adelie [unknown family name] (11, 12). In 1900 and 1910, she had had four children, three of whom were alive (11, 12).

In 1870, he was living in Flagg Township, Ogle County, Illinois (15). He was a farmer, with $500 in personal property (15). He was living with Adelia Denslow (presumably his wife), and Martin Denslow (10 months old, presumably their son) (15).

He applied successfully from Illinois for a pension on 3 January 1878 (2, 6).

In 1900, he was living in Cedar Township, Cherokee County, Iowa (11). He was living with his wife Adelia and children Albert and Jennie (11). He was a landlord (11).

In 1910, he was living in Larrabee, Cedar Township, Cherokee County, Iowa (12). He was living with his wife Adelia and daughter Jennie (12). He was not working (12).

On 9 August 1915, his wife, Adelia A Denslow, died (10). She was buried in Cedar Cemetery, Larrabee, Cherokee County, Iowa (10).

In 1920, he was living in Excelsior Township, Dickinson County, Iowa (13). He was living with his daughter Jennie and her family (13). He was not working (13).

He died on 26 February 1920 at Larrabee, Cherokee County, Iowa (2, 10). He was buried in Cedar Cemetery, Larrabee, Cherokee County, Iowa (10).
