During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service on 29 October 1861 (1, 3). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadephia, Pennsylvania, by Charles L Burr (?) (3). He was mustered in as a private in company H (1, 4).

He deserted in October 1861, at Camp Chase, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (1, 3). According to the company H register of deserters, he deserted on 25 October 1861--but that is before he enlisted (2). He was a private, in company H (4).
